Irish Draught Stallion Rec?

Looking for Irish draught stallion (or 3/4 or 1/2) recommendations to cross with thoroughbred mare. Would prefer not a front heavy stallion (overly heavy neck and head), which I usually see. Also prefer not one who only produces only grey.

Looking for 16.2 + when mature and good bone with AWESOME personality. TB mare is plain bay 16.2 with exceptional head and good sturdy build. I’m ok with plain bay with good bone and mind. Would prefer

You’ll be hard pressed to find a better non-grey RID stallion than this one (Avanti Amorous Archie). He’s also consistently producing quality foals from TB mares. It’s worth scrolling down to look at the photos of his stock as there are some offspring out of TB mares pictured. I think they do export semen worldwide, but that info on the website is out of date and of course the current pandemic situation needs to be taken into account.

Wow he’s GORGEOUS!

What are you breeding for? If an eventer (or really any jumping discipline), Jumbo is pretty exceptional - though his semen has been hard to come by.

He has at least one stallion son; worth checking out 😊 I would try to link but am posting from my phone. (Jumbo is black, BTW - and his son/s are bay or dark bay IIRC.)

Jumbo died a few years ago. I have read that his son Brief Encounter is a very good stallion.

Jumbo left nine graded sons in the UK; Brief Encounter, Free Spirit, Jigolo, Philanderer II, Med Night Mahout, Burfas Bugaboo, Iggulden Skye Laird, Jetset and Mr Bo Jangles and three more overseas in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Australia.

If you’re looking for a US based stallion, I’ve always liked Bridon Belfrey and the ones I’ve seen by him. http://www.benmarfarm.com/irishdraughtstallionbridonbelfrey.html

Bridon Beale Street was also lovely and I believe went through Intermediate himself but he sadly passed away and I’m not sure if there is still semen available.

Donnybrook’s Ellis Island, if you can even find him these days - but I rode a string of his offspring while working as a WS (some crossed with TBs) and they were wonderful horses. Most of them solid plain bay, as well - excellent bone and really left an impression on me after being around many ISHs/IDx that were just not of that quality mind or athleticism.

I also like Bridon Beale Street, and Flagmount Freedom (ISH)… but think the most proven ammy friendly ID out there right now is BBS.

I just saw that Gortfree Hero is available frozen in the UK this year now. If there is any way you can get him in the US, I’d REALLY recommend him. He is lovely and I have one by Castana that is absolutely exceptional.

Right now I have a friend’s horse at my farm that I am riding while she ( my friend) recovers from major surgery.
This mare is half Tb by Steeped in Luck, a GP Irish stallion.
I love everything about this mare, she is literally the perfect horse.
I would definitely check him out if I was looking for an Irish stallion
