The North East Region of the IDHSNA is running it’s first Hunter Pace of the year on May 20th, at the Batzing Farm in Caledonia, NY.
The course is about 6 miles long, going through farmland, woods, a couple
streams, the Genesee Valley Greenway, along the Genesee Valley River with
optional jumps ranging from inviting logs to some interesting questions!
There will be 4 divisions, Adult and Junior Optimum, with the time being determined by averaging the times of 2 teams riding the course before the Pace.
Hilltoppers with the time being the median time of all the Hilltopping Teams and
Fast Time which is self-explanatory!
Teams can start any time between 10am and 2pm. Fast Time teams can start at 9am, to have a clear shot at the course!
$30.00 per rider, IDHSNA Members $20.00.
There will be ribbons to 6th place and prizes for winners through 3rd. place.
Winning prize for 1st. place in the Optimum Divisions is a Clinic with Aidan O’Connell in August, Hilltoppers will win vouchers to the next Irish Pace of their choice and Fast Time will win a Hunt in Ireland with Mr. O’Connell, which includes a horse and a capping fee!
Prizes will be awarded at a Picnic at the Batzing home following the Pace.

This is a great hunter pace. I was lucky enough to snag a clinic with Aiden at the last one (can’t wait to use it!). Lovely path, well marked and very inviting for young horses. My partner was on her young event prospect and we switched throughout the ride who was leading, if he had an issue at a fence, i had plenty of room to give her a lead over with my horse. Unfortunately, I will be off on my honeymoon and cannot attend the spring one, hopefully many others will attend!

Thank you for the great offer :yes:, but note the “Nor I” in my post. I am HOPING I get full clearance to start riding again tomorrow morning after my collarbone surgery 8 weeks ago. Also due to various circumstances I have hardly ridden in the last 18 months so I just don’t think it would be a good idea, possibly entertaining :lol:, but not good.
I plan to spend the summer getting me back in shape and getting my new horse (Bayshore Gal from FL) trained, starting with trail rides and flatwork and going on from there.

I’ve always wanted to do a hunt pace but we’re not nearly ready to do something like this!
Ann, I have a half-RID mare. Is there much of an ID following in WNY?
Snowflake, there are several RIDS & RIDSHs (Registered Irish Draught Sport Horses) around here!
My RID mare is from Ireland and she has produced two babies by Tbreds
so far. She is due with her third sometime in the next two weeks!

We don’t have much local stuff with strictly IDs, we do use them to compete
in everything else around here! The Events, the Derbies, Foxhunting, etc.
The Hunter Paces can be easy, as in the Hilltoppers division, or more competitive in the Optimum divisions. It’s a nice ride around the country-side
at the least! We have folks coming in western tack!

I board in East Aurora. My mare is out of a Golden Warrior mare by an appy stallion (most absurd cross ever!) I would love a full ID as my next horse.
She must be out of Golden Rose. I was wondering where this filly ended up. Would love to see pics of her.

I just looked at google maps thinking that I could stop or perhaps overnight near the NJ Inter Hunt Puppy Show which is being hosted this Sunday by Windy Hollow Hunt in NY… Little did I know that the Irish Pace is another 5+ hours away. :no:

Our Hunter Pace was a great success last Sunday, we had 61 riders,
the course was an easy 4.9 miles for the first one of the year (the next ones
will be longer, as the season progresses!) and we had lots of grins coming
thru the finish flags!
Our next one is August 5th, come on out & play with us!

Ann, forget about adding a division to an existing hunter pace… For the first time in several years, the AVH is hosting a Hunter Trial - YIPPEE! I’m wondering if I could sponsor a class for Irish bred horses… We have several here in the Amwell Valley, and I’m sure more in nearby area… thoughts?

Hi Ann,
I never owned Golden Rose, but I did follow her career as she was one of the first ID mares imported to this country and was one of only two mares from the direct Kildalton Countess mareline in North America. In addition to a large number of RID stallions, this mare family produced the late Brandenburg’s Windstar, sire of Allison Springer’s 4* horse Arthur, who was recently named to the US eventing short list for the 2012 Olympics.
