Irish Wolfhound at Humane Society in Florida if anyone is looking

Just thought I’d pass this guy along. Looks sweet, but no real information on him other than he’s up for adoption.

Thanks very much for posting. I have forwarded the info to IW Rescue.

Are they really listing an adult male Irish wolfhound as “medium”? What does it take to be a “large”?

Wish I had room for him!

I wish I were in South Florida… he would be welcome here. He looks like Cu.

3yrs old, 143 lbs, being neutered now. Unknown reason for surrender, nor how he is with people, dogs, cats, or other animals.

Very tempting!~

Yes, I thought that was strange too! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been called to an animal shelter for an “Irish Wolfhound” that weighs 50 pounds and is obviously a terrier mix. But the photo does look like an IW. I couldn’t get the link to more info to work, but would be curious to know how much this dog weighs or how tall he is.

mzm, we posted at the same time! Sounds like he is indeed an IW. Sure would like to know his story, and why he wasn’t returned to his breeder. Unfortunately, there are a number of IW breeders in Florida who are not reputable.

So sad!

I just called them and was told that he was just adopted. Hope he got a soft landing.

Thanks, Over the Hill. Fingers crossed everything will be good. Would have been great to be able to give the new owner some breed and contact info, hope they will find us.

Glad to see he’s adopted, but not surprised. Agree - hope that they contact a local breed group, or responsible breeder for tips. They are wonderful dogs, but being sighthounds, definitely have their own minds at times.
