Is anyone still using Acetyl-D Glucosamine injections? Cost?

I finally did a direct comparison of an Adequan loading dose vs. a Pentosan loading dose on my elderly gelding. Adequan made him quite perky. Pentosan nothing. But I can’t afford frequent enough Adequan injections (plus they claim there is no benefit of administering outside of a loading dose) so I’m wondering about glucosamine since it’s more similar to Adequan than the Pentosan.

Is anyone still using this and what is the approximate cost per injection?

TIA!

After a loading dose of 7 shots every 4 days (like Adequan), I give it to my horses once a month. I don’t know if it makes a difference; my horses don’t have any specific problems but my vet believes it can work proactively and it’s really cheap. I pay $85 for a 20 dose bottle.

A fan of Penosan here. I do the 4 shot loading protocal anually and follow up with monthly shots. I feel (and see) a difference with the pentosan that I don’t see/feel with adequate. Possibly pentosan works best for my guys particular issues. I have been using Wedgewood. Ps a 1 1/2 inch needle prevents staining on hair coat.
