I have a lightweight Euro trailer. I currently tow with a 7k capacity SUV, but it may be nearing end of life. I’d calculate my current setup weighing in at 3,500 max (trailer, horse, hay, water).
Thanks!

Looks like you can with a Model X – https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1122487_towing-a-camper-with-a-tesla-model-x-thank-elon-for-superchargers
You probably could do it with the Model X as long as you never had to go more than 75-ish miles from home (also keep in mind that the grade will affect battery charge too so if you live somewhere with big hills that might lower the range further.) I assume the cybertruck would be better.
I just preordered the cybertruck. It’s $100 bucks to hold a spot (preorder) and fully refundable if I decide to cancel. Considering it probably won’t ship before 2022, I have lots of time to debate the ugliness or awesomeness of it. It reminds me of a Delorean in look, and I’m a bit taken by how they doubled down on the futuristic look.
I won’t haul with an electric truck/car with the current options on the market until they get pull through charging stations. I can’t imagine having to find a place to stop and charge with a trailer attached and decreased battery life.
I’m going to let the technology get better, but I’ve been following the Rivian since conception as a towing vehicle. Can’t wait till its out and hear some reviews on it.
We currently have a Model 3. We are in the preorder list for the cybertruck, as well. My husband is obsessed with it, though I think it’s somewhat ridiculous looking. We don’t have a horse at this point so don’t have to worry about hauling, but I figure we be looking to get one in a year or so. If it hauls as well as it should, it will be great.
I would be a bit concerned about having to do long hauls and dealing with chargers (as luvmyhackney points out, you can’t pull through). But I don’t think we’d be doing long hauls.
It’s a great point. I generally never haul more than three hours, but never say never. I’m quite sure US Rider’s support doesn’t cover EVs!
We have had a model 3 for going on 3 years and have just ordered a Model Y to tow our small travel trailer. He had ordered a Cybertruk, but has done the research that the Y will do the job. Our trailer is 1800 lbs, Y is rated for 3500. Yes, not a horse trailer, so cannot compare on some levels. Alot of the newer Superchargers have a station that you can pull up to, but have to back out. We foresee having to unhitch the trailer to charge, have an electric jack, but he saw something on a trailer recently, so is scheming up something to put minimal use on the jack.
Good luck in finding a solution!!!
This would not work with a horse trailer with horses in it. (I realize you are not using a horse trailer, but for the others that area talking about pulling a horse trailer.)
You shouldn’t unhitch any loaded trailer, seen to many accidents and videos’ on Youtube of people that do that.
