Is the music for the non freestyle classes also choreographed?

The reason I ask is because Im watching the whole thing from Theo’s site, and while watching the regular GP tests, the music is suspiciously in tune with each horses movement.

Did the competitors have to submit music for those tests too? I’m suspecting they did, for the benifit of the crowd and tv spectators… Works great, when I first noticed it it was with toto, and I thought he had an unfair advantage… I guess not.

Surprisingly, no. Gunther Alberding did the music to drown out the sounds from the stands so as to keep the horses from hearing it and spooking. He did a fabulous job!

I agree! I liked that music sometimes better than the actual FS music! Good job sir!

Brian O’Connor did not do the music.

It was done by a German (I think) guy who has also done the background music for the World Cups in Vegas, and probably all the big shows around Europe.

I saw his name in an article that I can’t seem to find again right now.

Found it! It is on eurodressage.com, in the letter about EQmusync.

Günther Alberding is responsible for the sound department in Kentucky. This means, amongst other things, that he is in charge for the supportive musical underscores for the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special, and professional sound-checks for the riders. All the Freestyles will be played using Günther’s computer system, avoiding all kinds of errors that could occur using traditional CDs and CD-players.

Oops, I was told it was Brian… I corrected my original reply!
