I have about a 1/4" tear I need to fix on the underside of the upper arm. I doubt it’ll hold if I sew it back together but haven’t tried. Anyone have any advice or is this the end for this particular shirt? It’s in great condition otherwise so I’d like to save it if I can!
You could try fabric tape, some sort of a patch, or fabric glue?
Here are a few methods for mesh fabric: https://www.ehow.com/how_8262029_fix-fancy-mesh-netting-dresses.html
sewing it holds, you want tiny stitches, and i use clear thread with some stretch- it does make a slightly lumpy spot, but doesn’t really hurt anything
The only clear thread I know of is plastic. In my experience those types of thread poke into the skin. I would use a white or nude color thread, with the tiny stitches mentioned above. If you go to either side of the tear by a few mm and draw it together that would work best.
the mono filament type is poky, but the fine stretchy stuff isn’t. It comes in colors too though- this type will be soft and won;t show much.

Y’all are so fancy with your thread suggestions. I’m here going… “why don’t you just use dental floss?” which is my go-to for repairs!
Dental floss works too lol, except it doesn’t stretch. The mesh on the sunshirts is actually stretchy, and regular non elastic thread makes a spot that doesn’t move with me and is annoying-
But I have autism, and clothing that rubs in any way drives me nuts. most people probably wouldn’t notice.
Thanks, y’all, I had no idea stretchy thread even existed! lol
Stitch it up with fish line. You’ll have enough left over for lots of projects. It comes in weights. Choose a light weight.
