Is there anything cool about my horse's pedigree?

Ohhh, he’s gorgeous! Can I have him?

Are we sharing our Alydar horses? I have one. Granted, Alydar was his great granddad, but still, here he is:

What? No, he was a stud. He stood in California after he finished racing. He sired 108 foals, according to wiki. He certainly was NOT a gelding.

And not only was he a stud, but his hometown of Willits, California has basically become a shrine to him. The Howard Ranch conservancy is eagerly looking for the Biscuit’s descendants (there aren’t many of them left) to come live at the farm, so your beautiful boy may have a built-in retirement home waiting for him, Schaved Ice!

From a sport horse standpoint, Nodouble and Court Martial are pure gold, especially as close as they are here.

And the mare Ahnighito is VERY nicely bred for sport. On the Level is nicely linebred to the Marco line through the Argentine horses, and that’s worth having, since it’s a line that is well recognized for producing jumping horses–i.e. Furioso, among others.

My mare is an Alydar grand-daughter too! I got so excited when I saw the clips of him before the Derby the other day. I ended up with her by chance, she was half starved and 15yrs old when I bought her 2yrs ago. I was so excited when my friends and I deciphered her tattoo and discovered her great breeding!

Here’s her pedigree, she has War Admiral on her dam’s side

I think I know your mare, now I will have to go look her up and figure out from where…

Yah got me on that one…have no idea who I was thinking of or if senility is setting in…probably old Exterminator or something.

First mistake I ever made in my life…hope I can live that one down;).

Sorry, mea culpa, no lo contendre.

I love Alydar in the pedigree! I used to ride an Alydar grandson who was OTTB (won like $80,000 at the track) and went on to become a very well broke big eq horse/jumper. He’s 20 now and still going strong

There’s a bunch of Man ‘0’ War in there, way back, and Hyperion. That’s cool!

Do you have a picture? I love, love, love (er, loved) Wheaton and thought he was really stunning. Would love to see one of his babies

Can I play?

I was thinking of breeding this girl for a future event horse. She is OTTB, so still green but super uber sweet.

Any thoughts on whether she has any particularly good or bad influences in her pedigree? Who might she cross well with?
:winkgrin:Thanx!

My boy is an Alydar grandson. And yes, Man O’ War is back there through the Alydar line.

You guys with Alydar grandchildren should post some pictures, our horses are like cousins

In Reality -

Here is my In Reality grandson http://www.pedigreequery.com/in+gold+reality The photo is from his very first A show this week, showing in the Baby Greens.

O.k. so no Alydar here, but…

I’ve always wanted to know about my guy’s pedigree. He’s my favorite horse to ride/jump and even just hang around with - he’s sweet, gentle and has “a heart as big as the moon and as warm as bath water”*

I do and maybe I can email them to you; I don’t know how to do the photobucket thing. Or maybe I can figure out the photobucket thing

Ohhhh, his sire’s out of a Lyphard mare, I love Lyphard  In my limited experience, I associate him with “athletic and cat-like”. I exercised a Lyphard filly and now I have a mare who’s out of a Lyphard’s Wish mare. Both were/are amazing with getting their feet in the right place and keeping their balance.

She’s the one on there I liked, because you get, once again, Fair Play and Rock Sand (through Display and Friar Rock, respectively.)

I have an Alydar grandson. Good mover, great jumper, definitely wants to be asked.
