Is this a seller's market?

I am window shopping only right now and only look at very limited outlets but it seems the offerings are slim and don’t last long (which is not bad, it keeps me from actively considering how I could squeeze a 9m/o mule colt into my overstuffed garage…)

Yes. Supply is down, demand is up.

Absolutely. From what I understand (in my limited experience), horses with a lot less are going for a lot more than they would have a couple years ago. All going more quickly too.

Yes. There’s a girl in my barn doing a WILD business shipping in cheapo ranch horses, taking some videos/photos, and selling them for $9k - $12k. The horses are not fancy or schooled at all but seem to be sane enough for amateurs and decently broke to trail ride. Pretty sure she’s selling one or two per week.

In a word: Yup
Just went to an auction of ponies & minis.
All driven through the sale.
Prices were high, 2 & 3 yo minis going for an average $2K+.
Ponies were largely crosses - STB, Friesian prominent - near horse-sized.
A 5yo mare went for $10K - bloodlines mentioned must have meant something to the locals.
Another mare went for $9500 in foal for March.
Crowd was mostly Amish, I counted just a handful of English.
This 2yo went for $2100:
