I am looking into buying this saddle but, i won’t be able to see it until its shipped. I don’t have a shark finned TB but, he has a good set of withers. Do you think the leather is cracked at all? Does anyone know if i can get the discolored leather to an even tone. I am just using it for schooling so, not a big deal, as long as it will last. Whats a fair price for this saddle? Thank you!

That saddle looks like it got wet and wasn’t properly taken care of after. If it isn’t already cracked, the leather may soon. I personally would not bother trying that saddle.
If you do decide to ship it to yourself make sure you have the ability to return it for a full refund if the fit is incorrect for your horse or it is in worse condition than you are willing to accept.
Definitely check the tree for soundness and straightness - if you don’t know how to do that - have someone do it for you and show you in person how to do it. It’s not something you want to do incorrectly and end up with a broken or twisted tree. It is possible to describe how to do that of course but if you’ve never been shown it’s best to have someone knowledgable do it then teach you how.
Ditto to everything that Rescuer said! if it is only a couple hundred bucks and you have some disposable money, it might be worth a try… but don’t expect too too much.
The PJ lights in general are LOVELY saddles however (I have one that is over 20 years old with only cosmetic cracking on the panels) and extremely comfortable. Another thing to note is that they run small and the flap sizing is funny as well, however:
If you really like Del Grange PJ Lights, the newer Bruno Del Grange Athena is a prtty exact equivalent (same saddle, different name). A good explanation of the PJ vs Del Grange thing is found here; http://www.thesaddlegeek.com/broke-girls-guide-to-french-and-italian-saddles-post1/
Good luck!
I’d pass and would not look back!!!
Looks like the tree is broken from the wrinkles on the seat.
