ISO all purpose saddle for tall rider with long femur

Hello. I’m ISO a used, very inexpensive all-purpose english style saddle. I’m 5’11" and have a very long femur. I’ve been riding in a 19" Stubben Siegfried Krefeld that I bought for $175 on ebay. It has an extra long flap and extra forward knee roll, and I’ve been very comfortable in it. I’ve been able to get my knee in a nice position behind the knee roll, rather than on top of it. All I do right now is trail riding, but if I were to do any jumping (might take lessons), I could raise my stirrups and still have room enough for my knees. When I bought the saddle, it seemed to be pretty solid, but I think that there may have been a crack in the gullet plate which has now broken. I took the saddle to a saddler and he doesn’t think it’s worth repairing.

So now I’m looking for a very cheap replacement for it - I’m okay with cosmetic issues as long as it’s structurally sound. I’ve got a few used tack shops nearby and I’ve sat in 10+ saddles, and it’s pretty clear that normal saddles just won’t work for me. I’ve sat in several 19" Stubben Siegfrieds with the standard flap and knee roll, and there’s no way there’s room enough for my knee.

I’ve been watching ebay and checking out other used saddle sites, but haven’t found anything that I think will work . Are there other saddle brands that I should be looking at that might have an extra-long flap and extra-forward knee roll? I took some measurements, and this is what I’ve come up with: From the most forward point of the knee roll to the center back of the cantle is 29". From the bottom edge of the stirrup bar to the lowest point of the leg flap is 14.5". The saddle flap at its widest, measuring straight across rather than an angle, is 15".

I live in the middle of horse country in North Carolina, so I’ve got some pretty good resources, but I’m not having any success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Sue
