ISO Half-Arabian little dressage nugget
The only “Arabian” features I want to lose are:

Hind legs that are straight or camped out.
Trailing hocks.
Tight over the back.
The tail carried flagged.
A bit narrow in the heart girth and downhill.

All other bits-- including their trainability-- are great.

I have a mare who gets some of these things right. And she’s good enough for my purposes as she is. She’s pretty to look at and I love what’s between her ears. But I don’t want to have more of some of the other features in her that I think her Arabian mom brought to the table. I know I’m conflating all Arabians with my mare’s dam, but when I look around at the examples of athletic, sporthorse-type Arabians, there are plenty of horses with some of those features in the above list.
Heehee, I’m half-leasing a Paint/Arab cross right now, and even he flags it like crazy in turnout. Working, not so much, but it’s very much there.

Unless you’re breeding Anglo-Arabs, one parent must be purebred in order to register it.
Thank you, now I understand.

MSU Striking Command just won his first dressage test (Training 3), the very first time he’s ever even seen a dressage ring…with a 75%. This is a heck of a nice horse! Also was shown hunter pleasure by his dressage rider (her first time riding in a hunter pleasure class) and he won all four classes he was in.

Look at Playland Farm in Union Bridge,MD. Her Arabian/Irish Draught crosses are small, sweet, reasonably priced, and lovely dressage horses. I think Glenda took one through 3rd level, although she generally starts her youngsters and sells them quickly as amateur friendly eventers and dressage horses.

Here a few very nice half arabs. I agree with MVP, the traits she listed were all traits I wanted to lose when I was looking for a 1/2 arab cross. I didn’t quite get everything I wanted on my “almost free” budget but I got enough for my goals.

Here’s an Irish Draught/arabian cross who makes me drool.

This is one of the gelding that came out of the program. They all have the same build, more on the stocky side with smooth, expressive gaits. Breeding at MSU is phenomenal. They have some of the best Polish blood there available. MSU Striking Command looks like the horse you are probably looking for if you plan on doing Arabian Sport horse (or just sport horse in general).

They are definitely ‘good enough’.
Striking Command is going to be a fabulous horse. His sire puts a lovely horse on the ground. We had a half sibling to this horse in the barn for training and from the get go she had a terrific work ethic EVERY day, was quick to learn, and SOOOO sweet. A true tent Arabian. Her LOW score at training and first level was a 65% LOL. And I think this boy is an improvement upon her. Bigger, better bodied, and even better gaits. I believe they are asking $9,000 for him.

That means what I think it does, right? Horse will go for you all day and then sleep next to you and purr in your tent so that you don’t need to pack a cat for your trip?

A soldier and a cuddler all in one. I want that!

Yes! Unfortunately for you we sold her last year to a lady in CA. Lol  Seriously though…AM Chance Command babies tend to be superb smaller(in the grand scheme of things) dressage horses with great minds. If I were in the market for a horse, he would be a sire whose get I would be looking at.

Too bad you want half arab and registered, I just ran across this guy, and he looks pretty nice (I don’t know the seller or anything about him)

If MVP wants to show at any arabian shows then it has to be registered. If she doesn’t care about that it doesn’t really matter, but I don’t think she wants a stallion!

Too bad you’re after <16h…

I just have made the decision to sell my st. george/I1 Arab x Hanoverian gelding, but he’s 16.3!
