Hello -
In light of Huntin for Chocolate’s recent passing, I am in search of a gray mare by Huntin for Chocolate. Preferably she would be 4+ years old with a successful performance record. I am located in VA, but travel wouldn’t be a problem for the right horse! What are the best places to look? I know that the “ask” is very specific, and so I don’t expect for this to be a quick find!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You would probably have luck joining some AQHA Pleasure Horses for Sale groups on Facebook. Also, Kim Dean (she managed HFC) might know someone with one for sale.
I absolutely loved Huntin For Chocolate, he was a fabulous stallion!
@luv2lope thank you for the info! I am already in touch with Kim and she has been incredibly kind and helpful. My dad purchased Huntin for Chocolate as a 2 year old and showed him for two years before selling him to the Scotts in 1999 to purchase my first show pony. Ever since his sale he has talked about owning one of his babies and so I am trying to exhaust all channels I can think of to track down the right horse for him!
Amy Gumz has a couple of very nice daughters - I don’t know if they are for sale, but you can always ask!
Try the pleasure horse forum. I’m not sure how active it is now but somebody there might now of some one to help you out.
ETA: sorry to hear of HFCs passing. I never saw him in person but he looked like a really nice one.
