ISR/OLD or Oldenburg NA? Is one "better"?

I bought a project mare to ride a little then breed. Her papers say Oldenburg Horse Breeders Soc. I somehow thought she was ISR/OLD.

Is one “better” than the other? Or are they pretty much the same?

ISR/OLD and OLD NA are the same. Sounds like GOV is what your mares is registered with.

Personally, I prefer GOV, but you will get a bunch of different answers.

Thanks DD333 - I don’t know anything about oldenburgs (obviously  ).

My current horses are trakehner and swedish so that’s pretty straight forward.

Do a search on these forums for your answers and delete this thread it we are in for it

Oldenburg North America (ONA) is a division of International Sporthorse Registry (ISR). It used to be the North American representative of the Oldenburg Verband, but that affiliation ended in 1996. It uses its own inspection, registration, and stallion approval policies. It does not have reciprocity with the Verband in Germany.

The Oldenburg Horse Breeders Society is now the official North American department of the German Oldenburg Verband (GOV). It organizes inspection tours using inspectors approved by the Verband’s breeding director and registration papers are issued by the Verband office in Germany. Inspection, registration, and stallion approval policies are pretty much the same as used by the Verband in Germany, and approved mares and stallions have reciprocity with the Verband in Germany. You can find more info at http://www.oldenburghorse.com.
