So, this is still in court, and it sounds like the judge may have a different spin on this. Could Maximum Security be declared the winner over County House?
So tired of this nonsense. What a waste of the court’s time.
IMO, ultimately the Wests’ problem in contesting this DQ will come down to the fact that when they applied for a Kentucky racing license, they signed a document agreeing to abide by KY racing laws. Which they then decided after the fact that they didn’t want to do.
Shouldn’t the whole drug deal factor into this somehow?
In a perfect world, it would. But unfortunately with regard to these legal proceedings, it’s a whole separate issue.
After the 3 ring circus that the Wests have created about this - as well as all the other salacious fun and games - why would anyone want to train for these people?? I know, I know - money talks… but enough already.
Not just money, but good horses. The Wests breed and shop at the top levels, and every trainer wants to get his hands on the kind of talented runners they come up with.
I understand that - but is the headache of pandering to these whiney folks really worth it?
Not to mention the waste of money. I can’t imagine how much money this is costing the West’s and KY Horse Racing Commission in legal fees.
If the West’s win I wonder if this will affect other sports. That last minute touchdown that was overturned on review so the lose the Super Bowl. There is gambling involved in that so some of the arguments are the same.
I am a JD and from my perspective, it is a waste of money. They agreed to play by the ru8les so quit whining.
I grew up in NY and used to go to Belmont with horse friends the week before the Belmont with “horse friends.” It was nice to see Barclay Tagg and Tiz the Law win today, without the assistance of “Lasix,” lidocaine," “unapproved compounded drugs,” or anything/ Recognize, of course, that drug use in horse racing is as old as the industry.
it is nice though to see a true horseman win once in a while. Rather than a million-dollar “horse,” you have to recognize potential talent in an “average horse,” nurture your baby along, give him time to learn, grow and develop, and if Gods smile on you and the guy stays sound maybe you can win one of the Triple Crown. Trust, I recognize that it is not an easy thing to do. Here’s hoping he gets his “Triple Crown,” this year.
You know for sure that Tiz the Law ran without Lasix?
I am no expert at interpreting Equibase’s Entries information but if the column ‘Med’ is Medication, I suspect that Tiz the Law did run with Lasix. Currently, Lasix is banned only in 2yo’s in New York. (the Med/EQ info from the NYRA entries info also indicates ‘L’).
Perhaps I am misinterpreting the information in Equibase’s race entry information.
You are not misinterpreting. Tiz the Law runs on Lasix.
