Italian Greyhounds

OP, have you been to the sighthound boards? Here is the one I go to…
http://www.4theloveofsighthounds.com/

I don’t own an IG but we often get them in rescue (in fact one is out on home trial right now…) and our adoption coordinator has 3 of her own!

OP your dog is adorable and Bluey, I am laughing SO hard… Cicero (the one out on home trial) is quite the jumping expert! He would so be headed for a hidden toy… just like your IG!

Iggies!

I have a plain ol’ greyhound, but I’ve always thought IGs were adorable. There seem to be quite a few people in the greyhound community who also have IGs (and whippets). I think they are just TOO adorable!

The main things I’ve heard from people that have them:

 • They can be difficult to housebreak but are usually just fine with diligent training.
 • They are always chilly and loooove to snuggle and wear jammies = )
 • They are a bit fragile in their first year but then are relatively resiliant for their size after that.

So cute! And definitely smart little critters!

Not sure I could have one (unless I snuck one in) because my husband is not so thrilled about the little dogs. He actually ran into an IG owner one day who was talking about our greyhound. They said, “Oh, we have a greyhound too!” And my husband said, “Ours is a “real” greyhound…”

I was like, AH, don’t be offensive! And also incorrect. IGs do not have other breeds mixed in, they are just greyhounds sized down over the ages to be companion dog size = ) Unlike whippets who do have some outside breeds in their background.

I don’t see much IG, but he is adorable
That did work, I see why you guess part JRT, or rat terrier, like mine.

Can’t see iggy there, but maybe in the body, if it was standing up.

I have a picture on photobucket, but it won’t give it up, so can’t link to it, seems to have trouble today.

Will try:
Well, if you were at WEF or KY the past few years, you have probably seen my Iggie… And here he is on his off days, with friends….

When I get home, I’ll tell you all about my experiences with the breed. I love them but will freely admit they are not the dog for everyone.
Cute dogs both of you, it’s amazing how slender IG’s are. Are they as fragile as they look?

Certain lines are prone to leg fractures, but not all. Aside from their dislike of cold, they are hardier than they look.

i have to agree with you on the adorable factor
dont know if i was 100% clear though in my earlier posts but he is an IG/JR mix. he definately isnt as refined as a full IG but he has so many of their charateristics and really looks like one when hes is running around.
