It's summer glove time!

I need new schooling gloves, and the summer is the perfect time to buy them. I have a pair of winter gloves. I also have a pair of nice sticky gloves that I use to show in. So, I’m looking for a breathable glove that isn’t going to get chewed through in a few rides. I really would like to stay under $30. I’m considering these. Any others I should consider? Any experience with these?

I have Heritage Mesh-crochet gloves. Very comfy and hopefully durable.

I have some of those Kool Flo gloves. have been wearing them for about a year. They are attractive-ish, have pretty good grip when wet or sweaty and have been wearing and washing well. They are cool. I like them.

Am wearing them in these pics:

Soooo…the ones I like are not under $30, but I’m going to throw them out there anyway. I bought a pair of the Roeckl Malia gloves and and really like them.

I like them because they fit me exceptionally well, seem to have a good grip, and wash up well. I can hose them off after a ride, wring them out, hang them up to dry, and they’re good to go the next day.

I have the regular Noble Perfect Fit gloves (https://www.smartpakequine.com/pt/noble-outfitters-perfect-fit-riding-glove-12334) that I LOVE. They are so lightweight and comfortable/cool, so I can only imagine the cool mesh are even more comfortable. But I love the regular ones so much I probably won’t try the others.

I’m a hardcore Roeckl fan but tried the Noble Outfitters Perfect Fit just because they were cheaper. I wore them for about two seasons (Spring/Summer) and they look gross and are wearing poorly. I guess it works out monetarily as I could replace them two or three times per pair of Roeckl, but I find my Roeckls to be fine in the summer and I’ve still got two pairs kicking around, so I won’t bother.

Huge fan of the Noble Outfitters gloves!

In my experience with Heritage gloves, they don’t wear well. I have not tried that particular model but I’ve tried 2-3 difference once and all showed significant wear within a few months of normal use :frowning:

I have those noble outfitters gloves and I regret the purchase. I haven’t had blisters in decades, but I get blisters in those gloves without fail, on a range of horses. It’s so bad that I can’t ride with my wedding band in them, otherwise my hand gets completely mangled. The little hunter ponies that barely take a contact? Fine, they’re OK. But as soon as a horse works into the contact, those gloves just don’t cut it. Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never had that issue with a variety of gloves and horses. They’re not even the thinnest gloves that I own, so I don’t know what the issue is. I’ve even tried giving them away but nobody will take them.

I love them. LOVE THEM

I have the SSG ones. Durable and comfortable.

Don’t forget sunscreen on your arms, otherwise you’ll end up with a sweet Mickey Mouse tan (ask how I know).

I have the Heritage mesh show gloves. I save them for shows; down here it gets seriously hot and humid, and leather show gloves just aren’t feasible. I like them.

For everyday summer riding, I like these:

And whoa! Look at that sale price. I may have to order another pair!

I have the Moxie Air-Puff half chaps, too. For summer wear, they are unbeatable. I love them.

Are you making fun of the way I look???!!!

I also have the SSG Kool Flo gloves and love them for summer. I’ve been wearing them for a long long time. Be careful ordering, though. The last ones I bought through SmartPak were extremely small – I mean tiny. I usually wear a size 8 and had to return the most recent ones for a size 10.

LOVE the Heritage Pro Flos!!! (which I am very hard on gloves) have held up very well.

I use them all the time now over my Roeckls that I wear holes in. Roeckls are pricey too. I found the Heritage Pro Flow Summer gloves hold up just as well if not better and are only around 20.00

I WISH it were summer glove time. It was 47* in SE PA when I went to ride today!! I’m pretty sure mine are the Heritage but they don’t look like any of the models I looked up, maybe because mine are two years old. So, they’ve held up well and I wear them all summer and a lot of the winter in FL. They wash really nicely too.( I’ll double check tomorrow as to what they actually are.) Best part is, DD doesn’t like them so she doesn’t “borrow” them.

Well I need those now. Thank you.

I was just going to chime in and say that I live in a swamp, I mean Florida, and I find my Roeckl Chester’s to be fine in the summer and winter, which is great if you live somewhere with mild winters like me. So $50 for a year round glove, is totally worth it for me. BUT I did have a pair of SSG Kool Flo’s for about two months last summer before I lost them in a field never to be seen again. I don’t have any complaints from the two months that I rode in them!

I wear Roeckls year round, I think they are the Chester model. I even wash them in the machine and they seem to last forever.

I’m a big fan of the Noble Outfitters, and I tend to brutalize my gloves. Which is probably why the crochet ones never seem to last. Which is sad because they ARE very cool & comfy.

I know this sounds weird, but last Summer I picked up a pair of Under Armour batting gloves at one of their outlet stores and they’re AWESOME. Just got another pair. Not show-worthy, but durable & lightweight.

I’ve had the same experience. I had one pair that wore through the tip of the ring finger in just a month or so. (not even a place that should wear!) Smartpak was great and sent me a new pair, and that one wore though quickly and got holes as well.

I’m another huge Roeckel fan! I have a pair of the Chesters that were going for well over a year and a half before I lost one of them. :frowning: I also just got a pair of their new London gloves that I’m equally obsessed with. I live in the South and both of these have been cool enough. I also have another model (not sure which) that I got on sale at Dover b/c they were pink  and I like to be able to wash them often (otherwise it aggravates my eczema). (I have a winter pair too :D)
