Ivermectin as tick relief?

Wondering if anyone uses iver as a tick protocol. We were told to administer 2 pastes back to back to kill ticks. I’m worried about the ‘carrier’ of the iver. As well, does this only kill the ticks onboard now, what about the ones that will hop on after the other ones die?

Plain ivermectin is safe to use this way.

Ivermectin will only kill the ticks currently biting the horse.

Once a tick has latched on, the possibility for disease transmission has occurred.

Yes, agree, once any insect, tick or mosquito or fly or whatever, bites, the saliva and diseases are injected into the horse or dog or cat or human.

Spraying with a good fly spray is best to do. Spray daily from ears to hooves and nose to tail, all inclusive.

I’ve been using the two week tick treatment that is administered as a liquid along specific points on the horse. Some common brands are Freedom 45 and Equispot.

I’ve had very good luck with it.
