Jacket Brand Sizing - Animo and others?

I am on the hunt for a nice, technical fabric shadbelly. I tried the Grand Prix, and I don’t think it fits my body type. I tried the Romfh and it also didn’t quite fit right.

I like the Equiline, but I am in between a 42 (snuggish in shoulders, arms too short) and 44 (bit boxier fit through body, waist). For that money, I hate to buy big and tailor as it never seems to work as well.

I fit almost perfectly in the 10L of the new cavallo technical shadbellies. It’s my top contender right now, even though I like the fabric of the equiline so much better.

I am currently wearing an old ebay special Pikeur shadbelly that is a 12L and I had taken in through the chest and body. I always wear a 12L in pikeur short jackets, so I was surprised that it was so big.

In comparison to these other brands, how does Animo fit? How is the fabric? I saw Heath Blitz in her Animo shadbelly at Devon and it looked incredibly elegant.

I wear a 8 in off the street clothing sizes. I have broad shoulders and long arms with a long torso.

Any other brands I should consider? Thanks in advance!

I have an Animo - it is a gorgeous jacket! I tried on Kingsland (just didn’t fit right), Ariat, Goode Rider, Cavallo, and a bunch of others over the years. I took a chance on the Animo and bought it on clearance from overseas - it was a bit long in the sleeves and a bit too loose, so I had it taken in - worked out pretty well.

I wear a size 6 - guessing I should have gone down one size, but with a bit of tailoring, it is OK, so you might be OK with a 44 (German 38). I tend to have bigger shoulders (and chest) - agree, the Equiline is a bit too slim in fit. Although - I do think they will tailor the jackets themselves,so you might ask? If not, the Animo seems a bit more room in the shoulders, and definitely longer in the sleeves. The technical fabric is incredible.

Of course, if you have a chance, go try them on, but if not, my feeling is the Animo is a bit roomier in the shoulders a bit longer in the arms then the Equiline.

I also have an Animo; I have long arms and it definitely is long in the arms. I LOVE IT. Heather and I are built very similarly :).

I should have had mine tailored, but I didn’t. I’m a size 4 normally but accounting for chest, I really wouldn’t want one smaller than the 44 and then get it taken in.

The fabric MOVES. It feels like wearing a comfy stretchy yoga jacket. I love it.

get it…get it…get it…

I’m looking to order from overseas as well, so just guessing on size. Not sure whether to go with the 44 or 46. Eek!

How do they wash? Some pictures on ebay look wrinkly. Do they come out the wash okay? How do release the wrinkles – they don’t look very iron friendly.

I have an Equiline jacket size 40 and in the Animo I was anywhere from 42 to 44. I found the animo to be quiet a bit snugger, but those were the short jackets not the shad. Both are very stretchy. I love my Equiline and the fabric is amazing, I didn’t overheat and I sweat buckets normally.

Edit to add: those are the Italian sizes. Be careful to check what the site is listing (ie german/italian/french).

If they take returns, order both, and return one?

Because of the type of fabric, there are no wrinkles when you wear the jacket - I’ve seen techinical fabric jackets hanging on the rack that looked very wrinkled - and they all smooth out when you put them on.

We carry Animo and I have to tell you, I am not sure jacket wise there is better quality. They are amazing. Highly recommend. We can special order you any Animo Shad you need including custom sizes and colors. Let us know if we can help…no reason to go overseas when you have someone right here willing to help

i have an Animo and an Equiline.

the Animo comes up more fitted and longer in the arm, its a more feminine shape.

the equiline i had to have tailored despite having bought the smallest size they make in adults jackets. the arms, waist and chest had to come IN and the arms had to have a 2 inch cuff added to give me enough length.
the equiline fabric marks easier too.
