JAIRS filly: Marble Cake - where does the color come from?
My Hail the Pirates mare had some funky white on her so Hail to Reason snd The Axe probably contributed some. star de Naskra isn’t really considered a source of color…BUT: of late I have seen two geldings that looked splash overo in coat pattern and both were hoist the flag/ star de Naskra crosses. I have my ( all white/ dominant white) Hoist The Flag bred mare bred to Medallist ( star de Naskra ) so hoping to something similar ! Will see what we get in March…
That’s neat! My husband’s father trained Star. Would love to hear about your foal when it’s born!

Marble Cake is not registered with the JC. She’s registered in the JAIRS.
Once entered in her native registry (JAIRS) Marble Cake was effectively registered with all other ISBC member registries including the North American JC.

He’s interested and enthusiastic but the folks that have posted here re. KIT & DW are more knowledgeable than he about the genetics of equine coat color.

Due in March! It was really funny when the ( white)
Mare went to Northview to be bred. The farm vet there to help with breeding rounded the corner, saw her, his eyes bugged out and he said " what the hell is THAT?". I smiled and said " a white TB".

Had a colt born today… Bit of a scare with a red bag delivery . Funny colored boy. From the top looks plain bay although he has the white topped skunk tail. Belly up he has heavy roaning on his belly and inside of his legs… So bay rabicano. Plan to name him Bronze Medallist. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/camohn03/0D57FE0E-2DCE-4333-BA9A-563B395F79BB_zpsvbpkyuml.jpg

Adorable!!!

Congrats! Is that blood on the mare’s tail or is her tail chestnut?

Blood. Colt was unfortunately a red bag delivery. Pic pre cleanup / sponge bath for her…I didn’t look too much better at the time after opening the sac/ had to pull the colt and get him breathing. Hubby came home from work just after he was born went to hug me took one look and said ummm later…we are still struggling a little . Dummy foal / needs help with nursing, on vet check this am was dehydrated and flunked his IGG . Vet milked out the mare, added it to seramune tubed him and got naxcel shot. Back again tomorrow…

Jingles his troubles are behind him, good job getting him out in time. Have you seen the squeeze technique they are using on dummy foals?

Vet said to give it a try, they have had moderate success with it.

Makes the 3 weeks of sleepless nights worth it to monitor… Even if born in the daytime after all! One of those things without an attended foaling I’m sure he would not have made it.

Camohn- you’ve had a rough year! I’m so sorry to hear about the Medallist foal and hope the worst is behind both him and momma. He is handsome!
