That was a preliminary hearing which I believe is still ongoing. Once it is over the judge will decide whether the case goes to trial or not. Still a long way to go.
Just saw this posted on FB.
FYI
Geez Louise! WHY is it always just a slap on the wrist for such horrendous neglect or cruelty? Justice?

Exactly what I thought, another animal abuser getting away with it. Something has to change!
So, so depressing
No, this is great news and should be applauded by all of us. It is costing her more money and getting her name out there yet again.
They had to reach pretty far to find a vet for the defense. Dr. Ramey is based in SoCal and this is the second time I’ve heard him come to the defense of the owners in the case of neglected/emaciated horses.
I’m surprised Dr. Ramey is willing to testify for her. I hope he is smart enough to get his money up front.
Need the judges email address so we can let him know how disappointed the horse community across the entire country is. Won’t help in this case but maybe he will think about be so lenient to the next abuser.

So were the horses returned to her ?[/QUOTE]
“Marin Humane Society Animal Services began investigating Gray Fox Farm in the fall of 2012. Four horses were seized initially in late December. Another two were taken by the agency in January 2013. The seized horses remain in the care of animal services.”
(from the most recent RMHP article, published after the judge ruled against Marin)
Any updates on the permit violations with their living arrangement- lack of running water, sewage system, etc? Still hanging out in that nasty camper trailer?
It made me sick when I saw the update on FB.
And yes, I do recall Dr. Ramey helping out another neglecting owner. Didn’t he even come here to explain his position?
And what happened to the other vet who testified in her favour earlier?
I thought some horses had been fostered/adopted/returned to their previous owner? And what happened to the 2013 crop of foals? were there any?
Last I saw, she was still stealing other owners’ pictures to display on yet another site pushing her horses…
Karma has got to bite at one time or another.

In that case, the horses were in his care and were on the property of an elderly person who was no longer able to give them the attention they needed (separate feedings, more individual care). He and others were actively looking to rehome them when a ‘rescue’ jumped in and decided to encourage criminal prosecution. It was not a situation where the owner was willfully depriving the animals or was trying to keep them as part of a commercial operation, and further, Dr. Ramey was a direct witness to the situation as it unfolded.

Godspeed Radeschein… a lovely mare who deserved much, much better. Thanks for posting the update.

Is this her? A Rubinstein I mare?

Yes, that’s her.
She was gorgeous and has such a kind eye. I can’t imagine Jill Burnell looking in that eye everyday knowing she was starving her literally to death.

In all these threads that is the part I will never be able to wrap my brain around. How do you literally starve an animal and slowly watch them die? Just euthanize them if you cannot rehome them.
Finally a trial date. It’s been a long road…
