You are an awesome Horse Mom and I am just certain Seven will appreciate being home again. Sending you more jingles and positive vibes for both you and your sweet horse.
Wonderful news! Continued jingles! I’m sure you’ll both be thrilled for him to be back home
Great news!!! Glad he is coming home.
I’m jingling for both of you.
WELCOME HOME ~ Seven !!!
So glad he’s coming home to the loving care of his mama!
Can you add electrolytes to his water to encourage drinking?
Virtual hugs to you and Seven and of course continued jingles and good thoughts and prayers!
You all are just wonderful. He’s home…I’m terribly worried about him again. The surgeon I am not a fan of is apparently still involved in his care. She said she doubled (doubled??!!) the amount of Unbeetable forage blend he got today. He’s very quiet…not pushy like he usually is. He’s passing manure and some gas.
I gave him electrolyte paste to get him to drink.
I will wait a bit to call someone. I suppose he could just be tired, but I don’t think so. If he has to go back, someone else HAS to take care of him.
I’m so sorry you and Seven are going through this. I wish there was something I could do to help
Did they tell you how much he was getting to start with? One cup to two cups, not a big deal - 3 qts to 6 qts probably a big deal.
Manure and gas is a good sign. Fingers crossed he’s just tuckered out from this whole affair and finally relaxed now that he’s home.
He was getting 6# to 12#. He seems much better now, after handwalking and grazing.
That is good news!!! Jingles, prayers and healing vibes for your Seven!
Glad he’s home and big jingles, prayers he continues to do well. Healing vibes for Seven and you!
I think increasing the Unbeatable Forage Blend was/is a mistake. He was quiet at the hospital Tuesday when they first started increasing it. He was quiet today when he got home.
He’s SO hungry. I’ve given him 1# of TC Senior Active every 90 minutes since his symptoms disappeared. I will contact the hospital in the morning to try to get better guidance. They were feeding him a little bit every 2 hours before he came home. It’s 2:00 am now …
If anyone has an idea what else I can feed him…. the person I have little confidence in says no hay products, but I’m about ready to give him soaked Teff pellets. I also found TC Stressfree forage which was mentioned in the recent thread about PPID.
@beowulf, they did give him WellGell via a nasogastric tube in the hospital the first time. I’ll look into it.
Again, thank you all!!!
Keeping up jingles and prayers for as long as you two need them. Keeping you both close in my heart.
The unbeatable Forage blend is alfalfa and beet pulp, so no hay products is a weird directive.
I hope you find a good solution for him. Many jingles for both of you!
Well it is not grass hay. So maybe they feel alfalfa will be easier to digest and not so likely to impact.
Continued jungles for you and Seven!
