I euthanized my heart kitty of 15 years on December 15 because of squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth. I’ve read it is the most common form of oral cancer in kitties. Two vets totally missed it, even with a dental cleaning under anesthesia. Said he had an irritated area on his gum. In retrospect, he had all the symptoms of that cancer. They totally missed it and I know he suffered because of that.
I’m so sorry for your loss of Tenuto. (Love that name). Everything we read said that oral cancers spread rapidly in cats. Apparently, surgery is possible in some cases, but the cancer usually returns within a couple of months. There is no way Bill was going to put Rowdy through that.
I’m so sorry for all your losses. How heartbreaking. {{Hugs}}
What a good point. It has been decades since Bill had to take his last dog in (pre-our meeting). Bill was out of town when I had to take in our last cat we had together. Thanks!
I’m so sorry for your loss. How awful that the vets missed it early on. We can’t make the best decisions for our animals without all the information. Sending healing thoughts your way. {{Hugs}}
I lost Zifu, my big Maine coon and really, my best buddy, to SCC about 18 months ago and just lost his partner in crime, Vivi to it a few weeks ago. I’ve really had enough of that particular disease. smh
I’m so sorry for your losses. How awful, and to lose them from the same disease. My heart is breaking for you. Hang in there. Healing love and jingles coming your way.
How terrible! I’m so sorry… hugs and jingles for you.
(Hugs)) laced with strength and comfort for all during this most impossible time ~
RIP Beloved Rowdy ~ knowing you will always be loved and remembered ~
I’m so sorry OP
Thank you so much. Just forwarded your thoughtful comment to Bill.
To all - Bill wanted me to thank you for all your jingles. He really appreciates them and you so much. Appointment at 9 tomorrow morning.
Bill just sent me this and asked me to post it.
"So tomorrow my Rowdy boy will be crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Though not surprised, it is good to know that there are so many great and caring people in this sometimes wicked and dangerous world.
Horses, cats and dogs, and even goats !!.. not only remind us of how hard they pull on our heart strings but they also open our hearts to strangers in common. Fitting that you call this a thread…
We are knitted together by these beautiful and loving creations in a tapestry that only the Creator could have imagined. Knowing and loving them for their short FOREVERS reminds us to pray for them and each other.
Whether they are 12 or 12 hundred pounds they are a priceless gift to be cherished, tons of laughs and happy memories. Their paws and hoof prints remain forever on our hearts.
From my ROWDY boy and SASSY girl ... and ME
Prayers Back at You All,
From the CAT HOUSE"
Oh, that’s wonderful.
Made me cry. Made me miss my little Bon Bon. And all the others that went before her.
That’s beautiful.
Thinking of you, Rowdy, and Bill this morning. I’m so sorry. I hope Rowdy’s passing will be easy and peaceful.
Bill seems like a truly special guy.
Jingles for him and Rowdy this morning.
Thanks so much.
He is. Drives me crazy sometimes because he’s . . . . male. But one of the good ones.
Rowdy’s first vet had a listening deficit. We often respect the knowledge of our doctors and vets. However, some vets seem deaf to our critical input. We know our pets individul personality and behavior. The vet knows the pets medical/physical makeup, body functions, etc. Don’t be afraid to tell them how it really is from your viewpoint. It takes an exchange of communication to come up with an accurate and positive diagnosis. I put my Rowdy boy down at 9:45 today. My current male vet cried more than I did. He’s the owner and senior physician. He knows very well how we feel when our fur babies are not well. Thanks for your response to Rowdy and me. I wish good thing for you and your animals.
