Jingles for a Peaceful Passing

Please send some jingles to Rowdy and Bill. Rowdy was diagnosed with what appeared to be a spider bite or oral cancer under the tongue three weeks ago. Vet gave antibiotics and steroids in case of bite. Only symptom is excessive salivation. Still eating and acting somewhat normal. He’s 7.

Things turned south Fri. Not a spider bite. Soonest appointment for euthanasia is Thurs. Bill is giving him all the lap time and love possible until then. Super hard on him knowing the inevitable that is coming.

Jingles for both of them would be very much appreciated. :kissing_heart:

I am so sorry! Its not easy when they’ve had a good long life but when they’re young it’s even worse. Cancer sucks.

I hope Rowdy has a peaceful few days and a peaceful crossing.

Jingles for Rowdy. I hope he has good days til Thursday and enjoys his favorite treats. Rub that chubby little tummy for me. He’s such a cutie.

Jingles and hugs for Bill.

Many jingles for you all.

The final act of love is taking their pain and making it our own. :broken_heart: May you find peace in knowing you did what was best for your friend.

Thank you all so much! Bill is my ex-DH. We reconciled a year after the divorce but by that time lived in different states. He visited with me in CA before my last horse died, and now I visit him in AZ.

It’s so frustrating being far away from them, but Rowdy has always been a one-person cat. He tolerates me when I visit, but just. He’ll let me scratch his neck on good days but prefers not to have “interlopers” in HIS house. (Although I have woken up a few times to find Rowdy and Bill’s female kitty, Sassy, asleep with me on the bed, which was super special. But it was only on very chilly nights).

He is attached to Bill with an umbilical cord, so even though I would like to be there, I think Rowdy is more comfortable if he has this special, alone time with Bill.

Thanks again for the jingles. It means a lot. I will pass this thread on to Bill.

Oh poor kitty. Thank you for giving him a peaceful end. Oral cancer is a misery. Ollie had a heart condition and eye problems but what killed him was the mast cel tumour in his mouth. The night I was feeding him and he screamed - I knew that was it.

Hugs to Bill, love to you and jingles for Rowdy.

Thanks so much, @shiloh. I’m so sorry to hear about Ollie. All the years I’ve had cats and my friends have had cats and I never heard of oral cancer in one. It’s heartbreaking and spreads so quickly. Love and {{Hugs}}.

Prayers for a peaceful passing. My Tenuto had throat cancer, though we didn’t realize what. A month of vet visits, trying this and that for oral symptoms before I said enough. After euthanasia, the vet did a mini postmortem just for her own frustration and to get an answer. She said far enough back to be invisible on an oral exam was an ugly tumor. There was nothing we could have done.

My DH Tom had “his” black cat too.
Though I was the main catperson, they were BFFs for all of Fremont’s life.
It was so hard on Tom when he had to euth an older cat we got from a shelter after Fremont (I had a work thing I couldn’t get out of, Tom was self-employed), I was glad Fremont outlived Tom.
He died at 17, in my arms waiting for a friend to take us to that Last Vet Visit.

I’m so sorry. Hugs and jingles for you, Rowdy, and Bill. I’m sure his passing will be peaceful, and that Bill appreciates your support.

If Bill isn’t ‘in the know’ on euthanasia, you might want to run him through what to expect (if you haven’t already), and tell him to make sure they sedate Rowdy first.
