Jingles for Evil Burrito: 10+ years later, gimpy but good!

My 2 donks don’t make much noise either. They will go off when someone unknown comes down the driveway (love that!) but otherwise it’s the pouty squeak that Jenners mentioned.

DO IT! You won’t be sorry. They are so fun!

Odie Jingles & AO continue ~

Odie is seriously 'cute ’ ~

Jingles & AO continue ~

Okay, I have to admit I’ve been stalking this thread, worried about Odie and hoping he’ll recover. Love the latest video where he’s keeping the mare in her place. And OMG! The breeder’s page? Cuteness overload. Baby pics? Odie baby pics? Babies available? I want one!! Good thing the breeder’s on the wrong coast. I immediately started thinking about how to modify the fencing where I board to keep one in, talking to BO, talking to DH, hooking up the tailer. I’d be driving there today, now, to check out Roller. You can handle a 16H OTTB, right? With the name like, That’s How I Roll, I imagine that’s a yes.

ETA: :sigh: Should have checked out the Sold page before setting my heart on Roller, but the pics are just…I have to stop looking, they’re just too cute.

Meant to upload this the other day, but I snapped a quick video of Odie, in all his largesse and toughness, keeping one of DH’s mares in her stall and away from me, the Walking Treat Dispenser.

He had followed me to the other end of the barn and then I came back to check on the mare, because she had destroyed a blanket that day, and Odie came tralking* back up the barn aisle to make sure that she got none of his treats or attentions, and was very adamant about the whole thing .

  • Tralking = the weird little gait Odie is doing, faster than a walk but not a trot or the little single-foot gait he normally does, so it’s a tripod + trot + walk
This is hilarious! I just got home and had to check the Odie update. Love the hindend bounce. I agree with the idea of an Odie-cam. That is a must! Can’t wait to see him in person!

A non-update update.

One of the girls at the clinic cleaned out part of the vet’s truck, and took his casting material, so the new cast was put on hold for tomorrow. But vet mentioned that Odie was moving around great and he’s starting to put his foot down at the very end of the “paddle” motion he makes to push off.

I have a video of him scooting around the barn aisle but I hesitate to post it  Some people will take it as it is, positive and proof that he’s still moving around and checking stuff out, but others might think it’s sorta sad??

But this all looks good, half way through.

And, for a macabre Halloween touch, I put an exam glove over his cast and took him outside for the first time in three weeks! He was a little frisky, zooming around a little but manageable. I guess I’m glad he’s not a 16hh beastie! I just left him loose and he played hide-n-seek between DH’s, vet’s, and my truck and then came in on his own.

Oh, I’m so glad he’s getting better! I was a bit worried when I didn’t see an update yesterday, so glad it was a non-update with a bit of cheer!

Love the picture. Looks like he’s getting fat! LOL.

We have a mini donkey at my barn. He was being bad and going under the fences, so he got moved to the only paddock with a lower fence line, which houses a young reining horse. I thought “Poor wittle guy, he’s not going to get a chance to eat.”
The first night I fed them in there, I tossed in two hay piles, farrr apart. Big gelding gingerly walks toward one and devil donkey was unleashed. 9 hands of ears pinned snorting charging eyes bugging devil donkey.
    “MY HAY! ME MY MINE!!!1”
The gelding threw it into reverse as fast as he could. I went in and separated the hay into 50 piles alllll over the place, so the poor horse could eat.
    Tough little buggers.

Physical size has no bearing on attitude! Donkey attitude is usually way bigger than the donkey

Applies to ponies as well .

Good luck, I hope he continues to improve.

Ok, real update, but no pics because I’m on my phone.

New cast is on, it’s significantly taller and there’s greater chance of rubs, but vet is pretty happy with everything thus far. He did drop the bomb that Odie is looking at another four (minimum) weeks in a cast. He wants to get four weeks out of this one, then xray and put another cast on.

This visit was pretty traumatic too, at least for me, because Odie had a more “typical” reaction to the anesthesia and was doing the jerking/stiff leg thing and vocalizing as he woke up. I was pretty horrified :-(.

Poor Odie! Sorry it’s on for longer, but at least the vet is happy. That’s good news.

You’re better than I am - I never could watch any of my horses come out of anesthesia. I’d have to let the trainer handle that. I’d appear when they were back on their feet with their eyes half mast, and it would still send me into tears!

Jingling for your little guy. Have been lurking and watching this thread because he’s just the cutest thing ever!

OK, back from auditing the Buck Brannaman clinic!

Here’s Odie sporting his new cast

And an adorable shot the BO’s DH sent me of Odie getting love from their 1st grader before school.

Sending big jingles your way for continued good healing! I love your photos, especially that last one. Adorable!

Continued jingles for Odie! That last picture of Odie is so cute-- you can tell he’s loving the attention from the little one.

Jingles & AO continue for Odie ~ OMG !!! Odie is the cutest ever !!!

Jingles & AO continue for Odie ~

LOVE the pics !!!

Thank you for sharing your Odie !

OK, it’s only been, like, a day or so…

But I wanted to post that so far no issues with the taller cast annnnnnd… He cantered down the barn aisle today. A total no-no, but still. He still doesn’t “walk” on it, but he does put weight on it while standing. Also, I had to give him his Jolly Ball back. I had originally not put it back in the stall because the vet wanted him to be quiet… But when I came out today, I saw that Odie had dragged the muck bucket we’re using for water out about two feet from the corner. By the rope handle . Sooo, I don’t want him flooding the stall.

And some cute pics. The first three are my friend Susan, who we call “Auntie Susan” because she dogsits and spoils our puppies when we have to go somewhere, and she went to check on Odie Saturday while we were gone. Twice. And went through a prodigious amount of treats .

Odie says, “hey, are you checking Facebook? Can I see?”
Susan tells him he won’t get the meme joke…
Odie laughs anyways.

And a pic of me and Odie. He blinks, of course.

Great pictures! So glad that the news continues to be good.:encouragement:

He is just so darn cute. I’m so glad he’s doing better.

Too much cuteness…hope he continues to improve!!!
