Jingles for Evil Burrito: post 680 something EORTH :(

Thank you for posting. What a great way to start the work week.

That one picture peeking there is adorable.

I never saw anyone getting anywhere pulling on a donkey.
To get one moving, you have to push.:stuck_out_tongue:

I have a friend who has 2 mini donks sharing one of those type sheds. It would TOTALLY be fine for your little guy.

Great news ! Thanks for sharing your Odie ~ makes us smile !

Thanks for sharing your Odie !

Makes us SMILE !!![/I]

Wow, I hadn’t checked here for awhile (just looking in on the Odie cuteness from FB) and missed all the barn drama. But all is well, and Rory has his chew toy back. Absolutely loved the picture of Odie and the rig he arrived in. I can just see this as the cover shot for a magazine, LOL. When he makes the big time.

Looked at some of the old videos too. Odie, Rory and the fly mask is priceless. Reminded me of a jack Russell terrier that won’t let go!

Glad the cast is to me removed shortly. Keep us all posted!

Glad Odie is happy to be home!!!

Yeah, it got weird, but Odie is home and DH is moving his horses on the 15th or 16th.

Chew toy fer sure! We are on, what, day three of the Tent de Burro? DH had to go out and make repairs. Work was crazy yesterday, so I got a text from my trainer and a call from DH at the same time, couldn’t talk to DH right away but could text. Trainer says that Rory is tearing the tarp up, and when I call DH back, I say hi and he says… Well, best to let you see [URL=“http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg280/ReplacementUsername/Text_zpsdbb541b6.png”]

PG13 texting btw

oh Rory… At first, I kept reading Odie is tearing the tarp… duh… not enough coffee this morning!!
Come on guys, behave!!

Oh odie and rory…I love you both! Happy new year and may you both find your equilibrium and special place together.

Not that it’s my business, but was there a vet visit recently? How’s the donk doing?

I seem to remember that they just changed the cast?

Per Facebook, the latest vet visit ended with a splint replacing the cast. He’s still on limited activity - but as cute as ever.

There was, thanks for reminding me!

Vet came out Friday and cut off the cast and a third of it (the back half, minus some sides that were dremel’ed down) is now a splint for the next three weeks. Good news is that the bottom of the fracture is gone on the rads, but the top is still visible. Not a big dark line, but there. So vet says three weeks in the splint in the stall, then a week without the splint. If he isn’t cavorting (ha!), then after a week we can set up another 12’ section to give him more room.

Bad news, he did develop some sores :frowning: . I’m led to believe that they are not “bad,” but I still feel horrible. One at the back of his little fetlock in a spot a little bigger than the end of my thumb, and then the vet peeled off some sections of the hair on his cannon, exposing some pink tender skin and a couple teeny redder spots. I almost died when he peeled the hair off because I thought he was peeling off skin  :dead:. He said it was like rain rot, but not…and I asked, “like cradle cap?” He said very similar, so mostly I guess dirt and sweat and yuck under flattened down hair.

So while I feel horrible, I am VERY GLAD to have the cast off. I was getting weirded out not seeing it, and not knowing what kind of whatever could be going on under there.

Long term, vet says he would LIKE to xray again in six weeks before Odie is cleared for extended room turnout (probably still no Rory time yet), but that it was up to me. I’ll probably go for it. My vet is incredible conservative, which sometimes drives DH and my trainer a little crazy, but in a case like this, I’m all about conservative and careful.

And some pictures from the vet appointment

He’s hoping the cute face will secure him some freedom.

And if that fails, he’ll just play with the baby pad I brought out to use between his head and the shavings when he goes beddie-bye.

I am so glad you live on the West coast and don’t have to deal with the awful temperatures we are having. I am so glad my horses are tucked in their stalls. Odie is so cute… three weeks in the splint will go fast!
Behave Odie!

And if anyone is interested, I did go ahead and upload the new rads for those who like to look at these things

Pic one
And two. Through the cast again because we shot it after the splint was back on, but is more the same angle as the other pictures.

And so no one has to find that page:

Original horrible crying sobbing blubbering on phone to DH while vet looks on in consternation xray.

From a month ago.

Hmmm that looks much better…

Glad to her he is doing well…he is just too cute!

DD and I went to the barn yesterday to mess around with the horses and then went and visited the BO in the house for an hour or so. During our conversation and out of the blue he said “I think I’m going to get a mini donk”. I almost levitated out of my chair and started clapping like a wind up monkey! I. am. so. excited!

Mini donks are full sized, live, huggable, pettable stuffed toys.

AND … they know it.

^ So true!!

So I work today, DH and trainer are going to rebandage his leg. Bandage changes on Odie every three days…oy :dead: He will NOT be pleased.

I think we’re going to use our supply of oral dorm. I don’t want to poke needles into his neck that often .
