I bought him from a friend in 2002, he had to move to a smaller place and wanted to sell two of his horses. I went to see and try him and we immediately clicked, out of the four horses I’ve owned he was my best mount. He has always been very smart, very enthusiastic, always ready for next adventure. A bit of a sassy troublemaker, he often escaped from pens/paddocks, he can untie whatever knot. But the most caring and gentle horse ever. It’s always been his job to carry me safely home and he performed it perfectly. I rode him until 2016 and then I stopped in respect of his age and his health problems (he has COPD and his heart began to seem tired). I brought him to a friend’s just 20 minutes from our home because she had more space and a bunch of oldies. Some years ago we expanded our land and I’d loved to bring him back home but our vet told me it was better for him to stay there because he has a good balance and moving could stress him. In our younger days we walked many miles together, we attended so many events, we lived great adventures. I always felt so safe and loved with him and we trust each other completely. My best equestrian memories are of just me and Ciri exploring new places and cantering through woods, rivers, on the seaside, from Tuscany’s white roads to Valle d’Aosta high mountains, from sweet Piemonte hills to simply the paths surrounding our home, that we often walked bareback and bitless. Oh and he was great working with cattle too, and a wonderful and very requested teacher for young horses.
Here are some pics of our glory days
Thanks for asking @PaddockWood
many times people ask me why I spend so much money efforts and time for such and old horse, well he’s one of my dearest friends, he gifted me with some of the most precious moments of my life and I’m really grateful to him
