I know I say it a lot, but if the bloodwork doesn’t show anything, consider a histo test, especially since he’s an indoor/outdoor cat.
Fluid around the heart. Cancer in spleen, abdomen and lymph nodes. I let him go.
you did the right thing.Squeaky loved his time with you before crossing the rainbow bridge. Since he is a former feral we know he had discerning taste in humans and he choose to trust you. { hugs }
Aw, sh*t. I’m so sorry. It seems strange that his bloodwork was normal last week. It doesn’t sound like he had much time left and not eating is a bad sign.
HUGS to you and I hope Snickers is doing better today.
Thank you. I was expecting it, sad to say. Rapid weight loss and not eating…
Well, I didn’t see the blood work so am just going off what I was told. It’s possible things were out of whack but not deemed important enough to tell me. I know they were mainly concerned with kidney, liver enzymes and thyroid.
I’m going to miss that little gray kitty racing up to the porch when he wanted in.
I’m so very sorry. My heart breaks for you. (((Hugs)))
Oh, no. I’m so sorry, @rubygirl1968. Godspeed, Squeaky. I’m sure he knew it was time and that you’d done everything you could for him. HUGS
I am so sorry for you. You are always the first to post when we have kitty problems. RIP little Squeakster.
I’m so sorry
Thank you
It sure does suck to lose them.
Thanks. I gave him tons of temptations yesterday afternoon, which before was devoured as soon as they were put down. He ate two, licked two bites of food and he didn’t eat anything else until I took up his food at 1130 last night.
I sat in the spare bedroom with him for quite awhile to calm him down because he really wanted out and he got off my lap and went under the bed.
As they say, that was my sign.
Thank you very much. I named him that because even before he’d let me do much with him, he knew the sound of my car and would come running from the back yard meowing the whole way when I got home.
I know. When we bring them into our lives, we logically know that someday they’re going to break our hearts. But there’s no way to emotionally prepare for when that day comes.
All we can do is cherish every moment we have with them and know in the end that we gave them their best life possible.
I’ll be keeping you and Snickers in my thoughts and prayers.

Last year I lost my Oscar to something similar. He didn’t make it to ultrasound. It was either the big C or his heart. His belly was very distended with fluid. He had quit eating completely and took to hiding under the bed. It sucked but it was time.
