Jingles needed RIP Squeaky

My brother asked me to go to the beach for a quick trip this coming weekend. My dad and stepmom are coming too. Stepmom is getting ready to start second round of chemo for lymphoma and she has early dementia, so I really want to go.

Squeaky, former feral and indoor/outdoor kitty has been losing weight and not eating well. I took him to the vet last week for exam and blood work, which came back normal.

He’s still not eating well. He takes a couple bites and thats it. Walks away. I found some Cerenia that Jellybean didnt finish and used some Mirtazipine that Sammy had. He stopped licking his lips so much but not eating better.

He’s scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow.

This morning I woke up to the sound of Snickers vomiting. She’s had chronic kidney disease for awhile and last blood work her BUN was 25 and creatinine was 2.8. She gets fluids 2 or 3 times a week.

Jingles that I get some answers on squeaky and that Snickers doesn’t get worse while I’m gone. I probably shouldn’t go, but if this turned out to be my last opportunity to be with stepmom on vacation…

Ugh! I feel guilty regardless.

Oh no! That is way too much to deal with. I’m sure you’re worried about everyone and stressed out. Maybe when you get more info about the kitties, you could board them at the vet this weekend and let the clinic take care of the cats and you can go to see your stepmom

Fingers crossed that things settle down. :crossed_fingers:

If I thought the stress wouldn’t make Snickers worse I would leave her at the vet office.

When she had the radio iodine treatment she didn’t eat the whole time she was there.

She’s 17.5 now so I don’t know how good that would be for her.

My neighbor usually comes up three times a day to check on them and I’ll be 5 hrs away so I could get back pretty quick in a rental car if I have to.

We have a 17 year old kitty with chronic kidney disease. She does NOT tolerate the vet, so she’s on hospice with no more SubQ fluids. We bought her a water fountain and that is helping her quite a bit.

Prayers for your kitties to get through the next few days.

Snickers is doing pretty good all things considered. She is still getting fluids and once a month Solencia injections but I don’t know how well she’d do staying for three days.

She ate all her breakfast and her supper tonight, I’m just hoping she continues to do well while Im gone.

Poor little squeaky. I don’t have a good feeling. This much weight loss, inappetance and dehydration isn’t a good sign. I gave him fluids earlier today. I should have done mirtazipine then too but I didn’t think about it and now it’s too late since I have to take up food at midnight.

I don’t have a brain anymore.

Jingles for everyone. Honestly, there’s not much more you can do for your cats. You’ve made great arrangements for them. Be there for your brother & stepmom. Hugs for dealing with all of this. You deserve a little break.

Lots and lots of jingles for you, Snickers, and Squeaky. I was going to suggest boarding at the vet, too, but see that Snickers isn’t keen on that. Obviously, the less stress, the better.

Did Squeaky have a thyroid test done? That wouldn’t explain the lack of appetite, I guess, but has the weight loss been gradual, along with the food pickiness?

Thinking of you, the kitties, and your family. I hope you are able to enjoy the time with your stepmom.

Sending jingles for answers.

Well, it’s been the last couple of weeks but his blood work including thyroid, was normal last week.

I’m at the vets office, waiting. :grimacing:
