John Deere X748

Anyone use one of these around the farm? There is a 2009 for sale locally, we might go take a look at it. Any comments appreciated.

I had to look it up via Google…looks like a decent lawn tractor, but it doesn’t seem to be loader capable. Nice that it has 4wd which makes for more versatility. The rear 3pt hitch is optional, not integral.

For small farm use, I’d want something a little more talented. Both JD and Kubota have excellent offerings in the sub-compact and compact tractor space that would be better long-term choices. And used is generally available since folks do trade up. (I have a Kubota BX series and love it)

Thanks. We still want something small enough to mow around the house; therein lies our dilemma!

The Kubota BX and equivalent JD sub-compacts both have mid-mount mowers available and are also really versatile tractors for estate use. I’ve had my current BX-22 since about 2002 or so and it’s paid for itself big-time. While I no longer mow with it, preferring a ZTR for that and because I leave it set up with the loader and backhoe most of the time, it did provide an excellent cut on the grass. I have about 4 acres here and that tractor has made maintaining it a pleasure.
