Anyone have or have used this bridle? Am curious about leather quality and fit, particularly when used as a snaffle bridle. All I out appreciated, thanks!
Not the conversion bridle, but I owned one of their Petite Dressage bridles. I thought the leather quality was fine. I liked it better than the Bobby’s Tack bridle I had before and not as much as my Stubben hunter bridle. It wore like iron.
I thought the Petite bridle sizing ran large–my horse is borderline cob/horse and I had the Petite cob bridle on the highest holes for him.
I also have the Joseph Sterling Petite bridle for my TB mare. I’ve only used it for one season so far but I really love the quality. I read that it can fit slightly large. My horse also has a cob/horse head so when I hear something fits large I get the cob, if it fits small I get a horse. The cob fits my horse perfectly. However the reins are too short in my opinion. I think they may be shorter than the regular 54".
One of my students has the conversion bridle. It runs large. The leather quality seems fine for the price. The bradoon hanger is very hard to put on (slides into the padded crownpiece), and takes a fair bit of time to “convert” from one bridle type to the other. Overall, I don’t recommend it because of the difficulty in changing it out.
I don’t have that bridle but I have had several JS products over the years. I have a hunter bridle I got for my first pony in 1993 and it still looks good, despite my mom using it for about 10 years and never cleaning it during that time. (!!! mothers…) I could show in it and not look at all out of place (now that it is clean).
Also have the Petite and LOVE it, but also agree it runs a hair large on my TB mare, could probably go to a cob, but as it is, not on the top hole on everything, but closer to that than the bottom. But GREAT quality - highly impressed and pleased.
So happy to hear this as my horse runs large as well
The online reviews also mention the difficulty of converting so I think I will play it safe and just get the snaffle. Thanks everyone!
