Judged pleasure ride Unionville, PA

Has anybody done this ride? What kind of obstacles should we expect? I know the water crossings are mandatory which is fine. My horse LOVES to play in water.

I plan on going with a friend. Fin has no chance of doing well but I still want to try everything. He will generally try things eventually but normally likes to take a good look and think hard about it first.

I wish the website gave a better idea of what the obstacles to expect or show pictures of some of them from last year’s ride.

I think I read other than the water crossing all obstacles are optional.

I figure in the long run it is an excuse to ride some really nice countryside where I don’t normally have access.

Many years ago, I did a judged pleasure ride in Germany. There were about 36 participants. It was basically a scavenger hunt; we had to complete tasks at different points during our ride. The ride lasted about 4 hours. When we returned to the grounds we had to complete a few more tasks, and then we were scored based on the points we earned for the individual tasks as well as our time for the entire ride. I just entered for fun, because my friend wanted to go. I ended up getting 11th place. I have no idea why/how I did so well. Didn’t really care, it was just for fun.

Link please. I think my friend did this last year, but I don’t remember her telling me anything about the obstacles. But if you let me know the link I will ask her if this is the one she did.

Found it. The Cheslen preserve is actually where I ride. I’m sure my horse would freak out about “new” stuff appearing there!

I did this ride a couple of years ago and am probably going to do it again. Super easy obstacles as far as judged rides go- things like cross a small creek, jump a tiny log, back up, mount/ dismount, put on a rain coat, etc. The year I did it they also has bonus trivia questions. Fun ride through some beautiful country and they had great prizes too

It sounds like fun. I wonder if they are canceling our fox hunt that day, which goes out same time same place. It could make things interesting if they don’t!

Went to observe last year. The grass in the parking field was 3 ft tall, kids disappeared in it. Bring you Off spray.
lots of people and about 5 different competing events going on that day.
