I saw that too. I thought it was pretty neat as well!
Well if it makes her happy I think its wonderful. Personally watching one of the best riders to ever live playing “games” on the ground makes me want to throw up, but that’s just me.

Laurierace—couldn’t have said it any better.
Oh caca… One of the greatest riders that ever lived has horses in her blood. So she doesn’t put her life in the hands of the callous any more… who cares and good for her! She is SO happy with her life. She’s a Mom. She does what she wants with horses. Thank God she didn’t retire like Laffit, or look like Mc Carron or As kind as Eddie D is… have the physical problems he has. Thank God she’s not a para or quadriplegic. I am honored to share a racetrack with her. Grateful that she played in the Legends race and wish her so much happiness!
I’ve seen her on numerous occasions through the Legends thing and she is so happy. Who cares what makes her happy or how the horse does or doesn’t fit in. Just because she was am amazing jock doesn’t mean she can’t be a rounded horse person too. There’s more to life than racing, reducing, taking a hit every time some assh*hole sends one out to snap it.
Good for her! Her life makes her happy!
I agree. I dabble with NH to a slight level, but have been a lifelong player with my horse(s). From a 27 year old to a 16 mo. old, the games have been joyful. As much or more so than competition and pleasure riding. But us always single types might have a need for companionship more…
Julie has sort of gone back to her horsey roots… I say she deserves whatever makes her happy, she’s earned it!
For sure!
Haha,
at least she actually RIDES one of those “Parelli horses”.
What do you mean by that?
She stiffed horses? She wasn’t that much? I don’t get it.
She gambled on the horses she rode or didn’t?
She was a RIDER. An very respected by her peers an those who employed her.
What did she stiff Fourty Niner? and you didn’t cash???
She rode. And she rode honest. A woman in a very male oriented world. Something to be proud of!

Really?? Why on earth would it make you want to ‘throw up’?
I have absolutely just as much fun on the ground with my horses as I do on their backs. Sometimes more.
It makes me sick because it makes me sick. Who cares what I think? If it makes you happy that is all that matters.
Apparently it matters Laurie… You are a saviour for so many horses. What’s the objection to a rider pursuing another venue? I don’t get it.
I think that Parelli demeans people’s abilities and shames them into buying crap they don’t need to feel worthy. How’s that for opening up a can of worms?

Maybe she should take up dressage instead!
(It’s a joke, it’s a joke.)
I never take part in the countless NH threads on Off Course and I apologize for almost starting a NH trainwreck here, thanks to all of you for not jumping on board. The arguements have been hashed out pro and con ad nauseum many times, so you could get more than enough info by doing a search of one of those.
Bottom line however, it truly doesn’t matter what I or anyone else thinks. Do whatever makes you happy, there is no way you could go wrong with that.
Blinkers, I think the statement “she actually RIDES” was aimed at the perception that the Parelli games don’t seem to translate when mounted and the majority of their demonstrations are aimed at ground work with some trick riding thrown in. Major point of conflict with it is the hoards of followers that spout theory whether asked or not and never seem to actually get on the horse.
Whether or not that is their intention, that is what they seem to have created.
So it is nice to see a rider riding in their presentations.
Doubt very much luvmytbs meant anything at all about her talent as a rider.

Again, agree with your opinion on the Parelli subject, and extremely well vervalized. FYI, Julie did try to ride jumpers a while back.
Findeight, I see your point.
The rest of this thread is a mystery to me.
She thrilled us. She was incredible as a rider! She’s had a baby, who clearly means the world to her! She is functional, living life as she pleases. She’s not having to sell a book or a DVD or any piece of her to make ends meet.
IMO she was a hero and still is. Regardless of how she chooses to spend her time!
Blinkers On,
LOL, findeight understood my post. I have rarely seen anyone in Parelli actually get on the back of their horse.
I love Julie. She actually rode a couple of horses and won for my BF back in the day.
