It seems that selecting that tiny icon to jump to the first unread post in a thread is broken again. It appears that it goes to the correct page, but all indications of what have/haven’t been read are not working, and it just takes you to the top of the page - reducing ease of reading at all.
This used to be a warning sign that the server was going to crash on the old system, I don’t know if it is a case of such on the current forum or not.
It might be helpful if you include platform, mobile/desktop, browser, and if you’re running an ad blocker.
The go to first unread button works fine for me, across a variety of platforms, but it also never broke for me. Some people report that an ad blocker solved this problem for them last time it was a frequent complaint.
And some of us never saw it fixed.
It does not work on windows 97 on chrome, it doesn’t work on my Pixel phone using chrome, and it doesn’t work on my android tablet using chrome.
I’m not playing the “what platform/software” game beyond that, because this forum has proven not to want to be bothered to fix actual bugs and problems.
It might be a problem that COTH IT can fix and it might not…
Assuming that COTH can’t be bothered may be your opinion but may also be assuming facts not in evidence given that most of us are not experiencing this problem.
Having been in software support for much of my career, sometimes decisions are made based on the severity of the problem and the number of users impacted… don’t know what the COTH IT situation is but would not assume they don’t want to bother to fix it… 
Oh, I thought you were reporting that it wasn’t working for you now, after working for a period of time, with this new thread? Is that not the case?
I’ve honestly never seen a team SO dedicated to making something work for the individual user. Our mods here really try to gather enough info to send to the IT team and converse with users at length to solve problems. Most forums would just say “we can’t replicate the issue and most users aren’t experiencing it” and not offer any solutions.
Did you try an ad blocker? That seemed to work for the people who tried it.
Windows PC, no idea what version so I am no help there (work owned).
I use Firefox and I have an ad blocker.
It seems to not work periodically for me. Like a couple of time per day at most. Not enough to be an issue. I usually figure I must have hit the wrong button or something. Laugh.
It never got fixed with any of my PCs either - I’ve tested on Chrome, Firefox, and IE on three different desktops and one laptop. Three have adblockers, one is a friends so no adblocker. I’ve tried with adblocker enabled and with adblocker removed. The first unread / last post buttons still just don’t do anything for me.
However, the function seems to work on my phone just fine (android with chrome).
I sent a link to this thread to the developers to see if they can ID the source of the trouble. Thanks, everyone, for the info!
