Jumper Stallion suggestions for a Riverman/G-line mare

So thanks to my mares turnout shenanigans it looks like she’s going to need some time off, so we might be breeding a couple years earlier than I had anticipated for her (she’s 7 this year, and I was going to take another year or two to focus on her training before breeding).

I’m looking forward to drowning my sorrows over her injury with some stallion shopping and day-dreaming, so I’m looking forward to any and all suggestions!

I’m looking to produce a horse for myself, with the goal of a jumper able to tackle the big tracks (1.50m type). My mare, injury aside, was on track to be competitive in the 1.30m easily, possibly more.

My mares damsire is Riverman, sire is my homebred by First Gotthard out of a Laibach/Graphit mare. https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/fashionably+late6

She’s 15.3 hands, hot but not at all spooky or nervous. Bold, very smart, careful and has the most amazing personality on the ground with an incredible willingness to work and love for her job. I would be totally fine with a carbon copy of her, as I love a quirky forward bold horse, but areas I would like to improve are: better canter and front end form over fences, she’s a little long in the back, very quirky in the mouth. I wouldn’t mind adding a little more height but it’s not really necessary. I’m not concerned with registries as it’s a horse for myself.

I don’t mind a quirky/forward/hot pro-ride type, but I would like the horse to be enthusiastic about the work and not overly spooky or nervous.

Looking at videos of some options, I love the way that Flipper D’Elle goes, but I’m afraid he may be too small?Leapfrog and Quite Easy stand out to me as well, and I’m curious about Flexible and what he has shown to be a good match with too. It’s been about 8 years since I’ve done any breeding and I feel a bit out of the loop on what niche’s are going to work well for her, and what is out there, so I would love to hear any and all ideas!

Thanks!

I love the G-line. Have a look at Glorioso Noir (Black, 17.2, lovely movement, and when given the chance, a very good jump) You will find Gotthard heavily influences his pedigree.

Our Riverman/Carolus mare produced a lovely filly by Carrico last year. Very sporty, tremendous power in the hind end, great canter, friendly and sensible but very brave and bold. The filly is BIG, but our mare is around 17.2h. The mare is in foal to Bliss MF now (going for a hunter - he has a few crosses with Riverman out there that are doing very well) and we are currently trying to determine the best match for this year’s breeding with jumpers in mind!

My mare is by Royal Appearance - born broke and polite. Brave as a lion, copy-cat to Riverman, willing, soft and kind.
Stylish form.

https://www.eurequine.com/ stood Fuerst Gotthard for many years (related to your mare’s sire line). I wonder if Edgar may have any jumper stallions that would be a good cross with your mare? I happen to have a crush on Relevantus right now --jumped 1.6m, looks to be a kind ride. and has size. l

Thank you for that suggestion, we have not yet seen Riverman crosses with Relevantus under saddle but it appears to be a very good cross , Landkoenig was crossed with Riverman mares with good success however and for much of the same reasons, Jump, height and easy going. www.eurequine.com

I’d suggest Navarone (Jus de Pomme x Armstrong). People really love their characters/trainability. They love to work and love people. Really good handy jumpers with a good front leg and shortens the back. Plus they easily jump to Grand Prix.

It’s a very broad suggestion, but C-line Holsteiner lines tend to do very well with Riverman daughters.

Sister in law had a Riverman/G-line mare (out of a Goldwelt—Gold Ferdl/Furioso mare) bred to Don De Marco. I bought the colt because I liked him so much. I would certainly breed her back if I wanted a second foal, and the inspector really liked the colt. Beautiful balanced mover, great butt and top line, and super mind. I don’t think Don de Marco would put on a lot of height, and the mare definitely would influence the outcome, but the two DDM colts we have are very nice.
