Jumper Stallion Suggestions

It’s me again. I finally got the registry info figured out for my mare and now it’s time to stallion shop!

The mare is small (15.3) and compact with a hot and sensitive but very sensible temperament. Ideally I’m looking for a stallion that will add height, lighten her stocky build up a little bit, and cool down her blood. I’d love the foal to be able to jump around the 1.20m and possibly higher. The mare does have a show record up to the 1.20 but was most comfortable as a 1.10 horse.

She is registered SF and Silla Argentina. She is also Erkend with KWPN. I’d certainly be open to presenting her to other registries. This is least important but I’d prefer any color over grey.

Check out the line-up of stallions at Rising Star Farm
Diabolo d’Esquelmes (Chin Chin/Carthago)
Con Capilot (Con Capitol/Pilot)
Chicardo (Clinton I/Corofino) - I like him the best for her, but he’s a grey
Coronado WW (Orlando/Kannan)

Some other farms to check out include Dreamscape Farm, Hyperion Stud, Eurequine just off the top of my head. All would provide you lots of options and knowledgeable recommendations specifically for your mare.

She’s coming 20?

Have you considered Mannhattan? If you dont mind grey, he ticks all the boxes. My first Mannhattan will be going under saddle this spring and is LOVELY. My Mannhattan this year was a gorgeous leggy bay colt with 4 chrome legs and a face anyone could love. Plus Manny is amazing himself. I can medicate him (27 so he gets previcox now) with no halter or rope. Just stands there. We even pulled his mane before inspection with just 2 idiot girls (myself and a friend) in the rain, on a rope halter next to 4 other screaming stallions at dinner time.

Plus he’s on a huge discount right now.

Pictures of my coming 3 yr old Manny filly can be found on my fb (tried to upload them here but no luck) facebook.com/viisporthorses

Has she had any foals before? A 19 yr old maiden is challenging. You probably want to discuss with your vet, and think about fresh vs. frozen.

Also, she’s got some serious linebreeding going on - definitely something to think about when considering the right match. You probably don’t want to add another line to Ibrahim  Shes got two lines to Furioso as well in the first 5 gens… I’m not sure I would choose Mannhattan for that reason (he has 2 lines to Furioso as well). Reaching out to Hyperion might be a good call though - they might have solid input on what would be a great choice to compliment this mare’s breeding.

But it’s all dependent on how likely she is to catch. Good luck

Thanks everyone. She was bred in South America so she’s just 19. Supposedly she was bred at 3 and again at 10. The vet has done a repro exam and said she should be able to catch and if she does he doesn’t anticipate any problems. He did suggest fresh or high quality frozen.

I was thinking of reaching out to Hyperion. I do think either Dakota or Imothep would complement her but they’re only available frozen.

Ooh. That’s good news on her having been bred before, and your vet giving you a good report

Definitely reach out to Hyperion to discuss the mare in relation to their lineup.

Another thought though… check out New Normandy Farm, their lineup, and reach out to them as well. Your mare is completely French, and speaking with knowledgeable folks about the best Selle Francais stallion option fresh or frozen to meet your goals, and how to go about getting Selle Francais papers for a foal would all be good to investigate.

I’ve had six Cassini II’s out of my small and spicy SF mares plus a couple more out of Holsteiner mares. He gives his front end expression, a little better movement, some height, the dumb power and scope of Capitol and the best brains. It’s a great cross on the SF mares. The offspring all get a little better type and rideability but retain the SF reflexes and athleticism.

You may want to consider Conteur - wonderful minded athletic horses - usually tall, dark, and handsome with exceptional temperaments for AA’s… Or, Connaisseur?

You can not use Dakota and Imothep on the same type of mare. Based on your description, Dakota would be an awful choice. I have a mare pregnant with Imothep now and of the two choices he for sure would be the better choice for size.

I had a fabulous experience with Klondike Victory Farm in Canada. Will save you a bit of $ on the exchange, and Lorrie is happy to offer suggestions on her guys. I ended up using Jethro Tull on my TB and have zero regrets.

Lord Adonis sounds like he would be a good cross with her
