Jumper trainers in Indiana

Looking for someone who can help my friend. She’s actually an eventer looking to ride with a jumper trainer to sharpen her skills in the show jumping phase and help her get her horse going a bit quicker. Any recommendations for the Indianapolis area (she’s on the east side)? Anything shorter than a two hour drive would be helpful.

Thanks so much!

Assuming we are talking about her using her own horse, will she be hauling in for lessons or boarding at the trainers barn? And can she lesson during the week or just weekends? It’s right in the middle of season and most area Jumper Pros are only going to be available during the week.

Oh, and where around Indy? It’s a pretty big area.

Richard Rinehart.

LeAnn Zeeb at Come Again Farm

Richard Rinehart is your best bet as far as that type of availability/training.

I have heard good things about Robert Mendoza at Bannockburn. Bit of a drive but I have liked what I have seen and heard.

She’d be hauling in to wherever necessary, and she can lesson during the week. She’s on the east side, maybe 30 minutes outside indy. Drive time wouldn’t be a huge deterrence if it was a good fit.

Thanks all!

Try sport horse inc. They have a nice foundation in dressage flatwork and would be a good match for an eventer. Pretty much everyone is going to be north in the zionsville area.

Robert Mendoza? At Bannockburn. Not sure if he does haul ins but I’ve been impressed with what I have seen/comes recommended. No personal experience. He is near Bloomington though, bit of a hike.

ETA: never mind, that will take her about two hours since she is on the east side of Indy. So probably a no go.

David Dorner/Bridle Oaks is another to check out.

Michelle Arnold or Richard

Robert has worked with a lot of eventers but he just isn’t my style. I don’t feel very confident when I ride with him. I can not say enough good things about Michelle! I have not ridden with Richard but he is an outstanding, brave rider and has a lot of very successful clients.

East Coast h/j transplant that landed in east side. Richard is probably the easiest for you travel-wise. Beautiful facility etc. come Again didn’t return my calls (I have a fancy, Devon ribbon pony and I was chasing them to return my calls to schedule, gave up), maybe they just weren’t interested but a call would have been nice). Thankfully I’m a competent AA but it has been a challenge in the MidWest.

Stephanie Collier - Colliers lane
Or Richard Rinehart

Both amazing

Strongly agree to both of these trainers.

I ride at Come Again and the trainer is incredibly busy at certain times. I don’t know when you called but the best way of getting ahold of her is via email. She usually replies back promptly.

I know this is a really late reply but I LOVE Michelle! She is the only trainer I have lessoned with that can genuinely teach lessons multiple different disciplines at a higher level. She deals with lots of expensive horses but really likes my 15.3 hand $3k gelding and gives us just as much attention as the really expensive horses, which I really appreciate as a college-age ammy. In 14 months my horse has done a complete 180 and that is just from my weekly lessons with her, no training rides or anything.

LeeAnn Zobbe, while I’ve never lessoned with her (I show APHA) I have heard a lot of good things about her.

I will put in another vote for Robert Mendoza. I don’t know if he can take haul ins at Bannockburn, but he has been known to travel to help clients. I have known Robert for 20 years and have worked with him a lot. He currently has two of horses in training with him in IN.
