Jumpery helmet question

I have a very odd-shaped head, and the Uvex Perfexxion helmet (the one that looks like a spaceship) is the only one that fits me. The more traditional-looking Uvex does not.

I suspect a Samshield would also fit, but it’s out of budget this year…and mama needs a new helmet.

Within the next year or so, I will likely transition into the hunter ring (I’ve been two decades in the jumpers). I’m nervous that the Uvex spaceship helmet will look ridiculous.

Advice?? I’ve literally tried every brand out there besides Kask and Champion, which are neither cheap nor reputed to fit oval heads. I don’t know that I have any options.

My advice would be to wear the helmet that fits.

I’m not familiar with that one, but unless it’s fluorescent orange or something, it probably won’t stand out that much. People wear many different helmets these days in the hunter ring.

I would get the helmet that fits your head. Judges aren’t super particular on helmets unless they are extremely flashy but most people use their helmet as an excuse for not winning a class. My trainer and several of my friends show on the A circuit in the hunters with bling helmets and they win everything so I doubt that a judge would mark you down because of your helmet.

If you really hate how the helmet looks, you could always try throwing a black velvet cover over it. I use a brown velvet cover to match my boots for cubbing when fox hunting, and it actually looks nice.

Honestly, no one loves how their helmet looks but everyone has to wear one, and nobody really looks at the helmet as long as it is a conservative color. Buy what fits.

Ok I just Googled this helmet and I like how it looks! Streamlined and sporty, not bobblehead.

Buy what fits! Honestly, big name judges are openly encouraging air vests in the hunters and even the equitation. We all want the sport to be as safe as possible.
