Jumping Boots

So I recently started showing in jumpers about a month ago. I show in 1 meter on the “A” circuit. I noticed at many “A” shows, all the jumpers were wearing protective, open front boots on their front and hind legs. I decided to buy my horse a pair of Eskadrons (front and back; just the normal kind, not gel or with the fuzz), and I noticed after a couple weeks of using them, my horse was getting really bad rubs. Should I get another brand, like Equifits or Veredus? Or just get gel of fuzzy eskadrons? Please respond ASAP! Thanks!

I really like Equifits and Veredus… Equifits are more expensive but definitely higher quality. The Veredus do fit similar to eskadrons, so you might want to go with Equifits. Fuzzy eskadrons might not solve your problem depending on where the rubs are on your horse’s legs.

I would have to disagree with the above poster. I think that the veredus boots are more durable than the standard equifits (I have owned both). The equifit d-teqs tie with veredus but are more expensive.

I also don’t find that veredus fits similar to eskadrons. The veredus boots are much more shaped and fitted. I have never had a rub from veredus.
I don’t like the memory equifits because they hold a lot of heat.

it’s hard to know what’s causing the rubs without a bit more info…where are they on his legs? it could be the materials, or it could be fit. i’ve always had good luck with Eskadron until my current horse, but he seems to be allergic to neoprene. as such, he can only wear leather-lined boots. i bought the veredus baloubet line both front and back, and they are really nice. my trainer doesn’t like the equifit boots - she says the lining starts to smell and you can’t get rid of it. i’ve not used them, so i can’t speak to them. the eskadrons with the sheepskin lining may solve the problem, but they are a pain in the butt to keep clean. For what it’s worth, we sometimes show my horse in polo wraps if his skin is irritated. that’s always an option as well.

i also bought a pair of CWD leather-lined velcro open fronts for schooling, and i really like them as well. they fit him slightly better than the veredus.

The rubs are on her cannon bone, and there is one on the outside of her front left leg, and one on the outside of her front right leg. There are no rubs on her back legs. I have been using polos recently, but i have a show in two weeks so i wanted to try and get her boots.

I’m definitely not a fan of Eskadrons. I do not see the hype. I’ve tried everythng and Equifit Dteqs are for sure my fav. The stitching sometimes come loose but its worth it for the impeccable fit and protection.

Also, its worth mentioning that the DTeqs are miles above all the other equifit boots! So if youve tried other equifit models and thought meh, you should still give the dteqs a chance.

If your horse was doing fine without them, leave them off. Especially if you have wounds that need to heal–the last thing you want is to rub them open.

Hi Andrea. I am aware that your dteqs are made from a different material and they are awesome. I love the range of sizes, the lining, and the overall look. I was referring to the older styles in my post.
