Jumping prognosis for the gelded cryptorchid?

The title says it all. Anyone have experience with cryptorchids that were gelded? Scarring from surgery? Do they drop often when you ride? What’s the typical prognosis for jumping? Thanks!

The ones I have been around were no different than any other geldings.

In my experience working in a hospital/referral center, long term prognosis is good and typically no restrictions once recovered from surgery. I’ve also owned one for 15 years and have had no problems nor received any recommendations to limit performance.

As prevalent as it is in TBs, I think we would have seen a pattern by now if there were any lasting limitations. :woman_shrugging:

I own one. Not a jumper though. It has not limited him in any way. He was gelded around 10. He still has a bit of a “manly” crest that is noticeable and he will drop once in awhile but no more that any other gelding I’ve had. Once in a blue moon when I was showing him he’d get all snorty and blowy but he’d get right over it and I would not attribute it to his being a gelded crypt, he was just being a pony :slightly_smiling_face:

This is the man himself at 19.
