Does anyone know if June Tryon is for sure happening? All shows have to approved by state and Nc is not yet in phase 2. Their stay at home order doesn’t lift till may 22, and it says sporting events are prohibited. Has anyone heard anything?
I just read on here that quite a few Wellington people have brought horses to Tryon. I sincerely hope they will sell less stalls in order to comply with COVID19 restrictions. I also read that N.C. may not move to Stage 2 this week because cases have gone up.
I don’t understand how Tryon can have June shows. I just looked up NC’s guidelines and we aren’t in Stage 2. Stage 3 might allow for bigger gatherings but only after a month of evaluating data. That takes us into July.
Q: WHEN CAN WE GO TO CONCERTS, SPORTING EVENTS OR MOVIES?
A: This is also part of Phase 2. Gov. Cooper’s plan calls for entertainment venues to reopen at a reduced capacity during this phase. Barring any spikes or setbacks in North Carolina’s coronavirus numbers, entertainment venues could reopen by the end of May. Phase 2 won’t start until a minimum of two or three weeks after Phase 1. Cooper said North Carolina could allow venues to increase capacity four to six weeks after reopening, during Phase 3.

It appears that they are doing that - they released a pretty detailed plan that includes spreading horses out in the barns https://d125ybw46bcgp5.cloudfront.net/wp_tryon/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/17073535/Tryon-Resort-COVID-19-Action-Plan.pdf
I believe Nc will be in phase 2 by the time time the horse shows start. How ever, knowing Tryon, I also do not expect them to stick to their published “guidelines.” Lots or smoke and mirrors over there. And all about the buck. Do I think they are happening though? For sure.
NC hit their record for hospitalizations in a day yesterday, so I don’t see how they could move on to phase 2. The governor seems pretty sensible so I doubt he is going to allow a bunch of people from other states to come into his country and all congregate in one place.
Well, you can read the state

The show has to be approved by the governor, not just the county. The state will move into phase 2 friday but is still limiting mass gatherings to under 25 people. that is why I do not think it will go but I could be wrong.
Right, but if the governor says no and they hold the show anyway, what would happen? I suppose they could call in the State Police.
If they hold the show without the governors approval, it would also go against USEF guidelines which I would imagine isn’t something they want to do. I doubt they would hold it without approval.
Ah. Of course.
What if it is an unrated show but still violating NC Stage 2 guidelines?
For whatever reason, shows in multiple states seem to be getting around the mass gathering rules. Lamplight was just approved although there’s no way Illinois will be in a phase allowing more than 25 people to gather.
I don’t know if they are making an argument about number of people per square foot/mile or that only X number of people are actively showing at once and not including general stabling numbers.
If anyone knows what rationale is being used so that mass gathering limits don’t apply I’d love to know out of curiosity.
