JUNIOR N.A. FIELD HUNTER CH. What to expect?

So my “hunt” (I have one now!) is hosting the Junior NA Field Hunter Ch this Saturday. What do I expect? Is it best to stay home? Are we expected to stay home?

Sounds like an awesome outing and I would love to at least attend the breakfast.

Definitely HUNT! It’s so much fun to see these awesome kids and their mounts competing and fun to interact with them. They are intense competitors and usually serious about their hunting.
We have hosted twice and I really enjoy having these kids in our field. They are polite and great little riders and most importantly their are the future of our sport, so I think it’s important to support them.
Make a great kid-friendly tailgate item, and have fun hunting with them!

There could be 100 in the 3 fields.
They’ll rock and roll, no matter what the sport. The judges have to have something to … judge.
BTW, OP, Ardmore is 3/4 mile northeast of the 688/647 intersection, on the south/west side of the road, red Morton barn, 3 board black fence, big open field, hard turn to get in. Thursday we meet at 830 am.
Call any of the masters re: your friend coming out, too.

Hunter’s Rest, I just PM’ed you re: directions.

Monster meet! Kids ride up front as it’s a “Junior Meet”. Lotsa parents on the ground so tailgate will be huge; bring food! Lotsa food. And these kids ride like the wind so just stay outa their way!! Fun! I’m gonna car follow I think. This is the first of the competition hunts too so more juniors out. We had 117 at one of “junior meets” last year without the competion fields!

OP and everybody
The 9/27 opening meet for the competition is at Poe’s Run, also known as Julia’s Bottom (tongue in cheek) across from Hunter’s Rest.
Address would be North Poes Road, Flint Hill 22627, but basically its 1/2 mile off of Crest Hill Road Route 647.

Man, I wish I lived closer…

Hindy
We’re hacking over, naturally Dahling. 10 going out of here …

Must be a tiny strip of land!

and… drum roll… it was fabulous! :cool:There were three fields of juniors and three fields of adults closely following the juniors of each field. The kids were great and there were tons of them! <cringe> :sigh:: I am not a kid person AT ALL but find them much more interesting on ponies. :stuck_out_tongue: Lots of smiles and it was fun to see the local kids working hard to qualify. Several did. I believe they go to PA next Saturday.

I counted 33 pinnies at the photo op! Sounded like great hound work! No problems but DID hear about a totally soaked child on smaller pony who got wet during the Rappahannock River crossing. Stepped in a hole in the water and kept on hunting! Poor punkin! Lotsa nervous kids/ parents prehunt but tons of smiles after. Most of the kids were so serious! I saw some fabulous turnout too. Ya’ll shoulda bought stock in horse shampoo recently; you’d be rich now! I think they are on to Blue Ridge Hunt saturday.
