Juniper Berries and Cushings

i have a 20yr old Morgan mare with Cushings. (she’s on meds). When my farrier was here this week he told me that the sagest of sages …(a retired veterinarian in this area who is the most renowned equine diagnosticians among other things) recommends juniper berries (free choice) to Cushings horses. So, in my ignorance, i googled where to buy them. And that’s when i discovered that eastern red cedars are actually junipers, and their ‘berries’ (which are actually acorns and not berries at all) are even better than those that are for sale at most online stores. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!!! berries abundant!

Now my question is… Has anyone ever heard of Juniper Berries (not chaste berries) and a remedy for Cushings?

here’s a link in case anyone is curious about them:
