just a question: How can a psoter who posted a thread have Zero posts?

just read a thread started by a new poster who is credited with Zero posta? seems unrealistic to me since I can see a post made by them

just wondering if this allows a gateway for some of the spamming posts to get onsite

We’ve always allowed someone to join and start a thread immediately. They might be long time lurkers who suddenly have a question or long time users with a new name.

Are you wanting all new users to put up a post before a thread? Won’t stop the spammers because they are good at spamming posts on existing threads.

Didn’t you ask this same question awhile ago? Or am I misremembering?

Perhaps the software doesn’t start counting until the user has posted a reply to a thread. I know I’ve seen other threads started by new users with the correct count (for example, the new user OP has the thread starting post, and two replies, and the post count says 3.)

But if that’s the case, does it matter? How would a counting error have any impact on a spam poster?

I’m not sure why that user’s post count is showing up as 0, but she did submit that thread twice, and the duplicate was deleted, so I’m guessing it’s a little glitch related to that. We’ll have to see if it changes with subsequent posts!

I think it counts how many posts you have before the current post or thread. It is counting previous posts.

Nah, I’ve seen new posters with 3 post count and three total posts. Unless there’s a deleted one in there (I don’t think so, I’ve seen that more than once?) it’s counting total.

ETA: for example

yes I asked this but never really got a solid answer

Even the Spamming posters who have posted a single topic, just as this poster has done, have always been credited with 1 Post
