I’m looking for info on temperaments coming out of breedings with Sagnol. I keep reading that the Sandro Hit line can be hot, but so far everyone seems to love the temperaments from Sagnol babies. I’m particularly curious about reviews of Sagnol crossed with Thoroughbred mares (aside from Sandro’s Star). TIA!
I ABSOLUTELY ADORE my Starlight (x Sandro Hit) mare out of a Thoroughbred mare I bred (as well as her sire and stood her grandsire). She is not only drop dead gorgeous, sweeeeeeeet and easy to handle and ride. You couldn’t pull her out of my cold dead hands!
I know of one personally that events up to the intermediate level I believe, out of a half TB dam. He is talented, but very hot, sensitive, quirky, and explosive. Would not be everyone’s cup of tea for sure! I do love Sandro’s Star though and think he is absolutely lovely.
SOOOOOO much depends on the mare - she is usually more than 60% of the resulting foal. If breeders would pay more attention to picking the best mare they can get - it makes all the difference.
I don’t know about Sagnol, but our Sandro Hit sire Schroeder (Sandro Hit - Escudo I) is a big puppy dog and super trainability and throws it. I think for Sandro Hit you have to look at the dam side for the better character.
