Just discovered the Sister Jane/Rita Mae Brown novels!

Where have these been all my life… was out on my porch reading in the dark with a flashlight last night because I couldn’t put down “Outfoxed” long enough to relocate inside - dogs were not pleased.

Now at work ordering ALL of them off Amazon!

Makes me long to belong to that world… maybe someday a relocation from NJ to VA is in the cards…

OMG Rita Mae is a riot and a great writer. She even wrote a book about my old hunt in Nevada because she is great friends with Lynn Lloyd. Just fab!

Okay, I think I’ll end up reading everything she’s written  And the other recommended hunt themed books, just saw that thread - something about the hunt setting is enchanting!

Rita Mae is FABULOUS!!! Love the Sister books. Just wish she’d hurry up & write MORE!!! Meeting her is on my bucket list!!

Love her Sister Jane series - have read them all. And also all her “cat” written books. Have met her a couple of times and she is as funny, warm and interesting in person as you would imagine from reading her novels. Truly a gem!

I seldom have time to read, but love Books on Tape when I’m on the road…Are her books on CD’s??? I’d love to hear them all!!

I, too, am a great fan of the Sister Jane books. I’ve read and enjoyed all of them. Unexpectedly, my favorite characters are often the foxes.

Me too. I’ve enjoyed everything of hers I’ve read. The cat books, the hunting ones, and she’s written a few that are/were considered risqué at some point in time. I haven’t read the one that caused the furor, Pineapple something? But one of the others about the lead character being gay both me and my hubby (strangely enough) enjoyed reading. She makes it all real and understandable.

Rubyfruit Jungle is the book I think you are referring to Nancy M.

I loved Riding Shotgun - my favorite of all of her books.

She knows hunting very well and her love and knowledge of the fox habits shows in her writing.

I had dinner with her once when I was working for the real “Gordon Smith”. She was a hoot. Hunted with her many times. I highly recommend the experience.

Enjoy the books. I can’t think of any of hers that i did not enjoy. Second the RIDING SHOTGUN as the best of the lot.

Her books are what started my interest in hunting.

Thanks so much for posting this. I just ordered them all as well!

Really enjoyed all of the Sister Jane novels. Rita Mae is a trip in person. Got to know her a bit many years ago and she’s a lovely person.

I have heard many wonderful things about her and her hunt. I do love the Sister Jane novels but my all time favorite is Riding Shotgun as well.

FF, at least some of them are available on CD. I have one that she reads, and one read by someone else. They’re great for road trips!

My fall ritual is to listen to the Sister Jane and ther Mrs Murphy books in order. And I read the Sister Jane ones that aren’t recorded.

Riding Shotgun and Full Cry are my two favorites. I could read them over and over and over… And, yeah, I think Jane Arnold is who I’d like to be one day.

Enjoy ALL RMB books ! Very fun !
