OMG. I bet he …smelled…delightful for a couple days.
My cat Jim Bob from long ago loved popcorn with soy sauce sprinkled on it.
Another past cat Daisy, and the current Kittens With Mittens and socks like green olives. They don’t eat the olive, they just mouth, lick and suck on it until all the juice is gone.
My first ginger cat Tango, Raisin Bran.
Before his near death experience with stones, Rotten Ralph enjoyed yogurt. He would also lick the cream cheese icing off carrot muffins if they were left unattended.
Oddly enough, except for what has been mentioned, none of my cats like any other human food.
My Oscar (RIP) liked popcorn.
My new girl seems to like Fritos . I dropped one and immediately hear a crunch, crunch.

I don’t know if it counts as “eating”, but I grew up in a home on the water, and I had a cat that brought a sea cucumber to the doorstep every morning for about two weeks. We’d pick it up, walk down the dock, chuck it back into the water and the next morning it would be back on the front porch (in the place where the cat always left his kills). Very perplexing considering sea cucumbers don’t “do” anything that should interest a cat and are not typically in a place a cat could get them.
In the beginning we questioned whether an otter or some other creature had deposited the treasure. But finally caught the cat carrying it back up to the porch.
That was by far the weirdest thing I’ve ever caught one of my cats with.
We have one cat who sits at the table next to our son, every night for dinner. He’s a tuxedo, so he’s “dressed for the part” too. He thinks he needs to have whatever we’re having. Last night it was spaghetti and by golly he ate it. Earlier this week was pulled pork, complete with BBQ sauce. He ate it. This is the same cat who is beyond picky about what I put on his cat plate!
My son will dangle food above him, and get him to sit up and ‘beg’, like a dog.
There’s an old photo of another of Mom & Dad’s cats from long before I was born sitting on his haunches eating spaghetti, too.
I was too young to remember myself but I saw the pictures. My Grampy had a black and white cat called Blacky that he was very attached to. Every day he would make two cups of tea, then put one on a saucer and put it on the table. Blacky was usually waiting and would hop up on the chair and drink his tea with Grampy.
I had one that liked: McDonalds French fries, Doritos, cooked broccoli, cooked asparagus.
I had a hospice cat with kidney failure that would eat virtually anything. Any meat or fish. Most cooked vegetables, fruit. If it came off my plate she would eat it. Only exceptions were raw vegetables.
A friend had a cat who loved wasabi peas. I tried those peas exactly once and thought I might die… but the cat would eat as many as she was given.
I have good southern kitties. They love corn bread and biscuits.
My brother had to learn a hard lesson about what our Mexican food devouring cat (named Clarice) would do for her favorite food. He would place a tortilla chip on his tongue and stick it out at her while she sat there on his lap glaring at him. Well, one day he went too far - stuck his tongue out and quick as a wink she hooked the chip off his tongue and managed to hook him a good one in the process. She took her prize and stalked off while my mom and I laughed our asses off. He never did that again.
I also had a Mexican food devouring cat. He had a disturbing love for refried beans. I learned this the hard way when he was still a kitten and I made myself a very yummy burrito. Set it down own the counter, walked away for like 25 seconds, to discover he had ripped the tortilla off and was happily slurping up the beans. I miss that cat so much, but 18+ years later, I can finally eat a burrito in peace.
I’ve had two cats that ate saurkraut. Maybe not so strange since more than one at them.
Beans? wtf? But I’ll bet if had served them to him in his bowl it would have been a hard no. Snitched food somehow tastes better? Goofballs
Cat logic right? I bet stolen food definitely tastes better than boring ole bowl fare. Thrill of the hunt and all that.
He loved those refried beans his whole long life. Granted, I never did try to serve them to him, but I always let him have a spoonful if I was making something with them. And if I was eating a burrito, well, one of us had to be in another room, in case there were beans in there. He would stare you down waiting for a chance to snag it.
He was such a weird little guy.
My cat LOVES avocado… All of my cats have loved spaghetti and tomato sauce
Long ago I had a cat who loved strawberries. Mom always had a garden with a strawberry patch, and when they started to get ripe, this cat would go out there and eat them right off the plant. Mom never could figure out what was happening to the ripe strawberries! AFAIK, no one ever gave her any strawberries, so we have no idea where the taste for them developed.
