Just need clarification regarding RRP Eligible

So, been browsing for TB’s, and I see lots of “RRP Eligible”. Now, I know that means that they must have raced up to a certain point, and had less than a certain # of post-track rides, etc. However, as far as what RRP actually means, is that referring to the TB Makeover in Kentucky?

I guess what I’m getting it is, that would only be significant for me if I had desire to go to Kentucky (which I dont). Like, there’s no local RRP competition. Its just one, big show?

I ask because if there was something on a local level, that might be more appealing to me. But I don’t have much ambition for a big show.

Along those lines, TIP classes might be more my speed.

Just need clarification that I am understanding this correctly!

RRP TB Makeover is just one big “show” in October each year (except this year.) And yes, being RRP eligible simply means at this point they are less than 15 rides for the next RRP start date, which is December 1st. If you want to show local, the eligibility doesn’t matter. TIP classes, absolutely are great. If you are not planning to apply for (you have to be accepted) being a trainer to the RRP event, don’t worry about it! And good luck.

ETA If you were interested in applying for the makeover, registration opens December 1st, through I think January 15th. Plus the rule then applies that your horse cannot have had more than 15 rides before that December 1 date.

Yes RRP is the TB Makeover in Ky every year in October. It is one big event, no smaller events or anything like that. Yes, you only need an RRP eligible horse if you plan to do the makeover, otherwise it’s irrelevant.
