Just received my Emcelle, now how do I figure out dosing info?

I have 2 PSSM positive horses who need to get about 5000 IU of vitamin E per day. The instructions on the bottle say that 1 ml equals 500 IU of vit E. So 10ml would give me 5000 IU of vitamin E. Problem is how do I measure ml? I tried converting 10 ml to ounces but that gave me 0.338 of an ounce. Would that be equivalent to a teaspoon?

Easiest way would be to get a 10ml or 12 ml,etc syringe and fill it to the 10ml line. No guessing.

Yeah, just pick up a 12 mL syringe. You should be able to purchase from your pharmacist or vet supply place, or you can order on amazon. Or Valley vet.

Y’all are so smart! I already have some syringes, I would have never thought of that LOL, so much easier!

We all have days like that

Just in case your syringes are labeled with ccs and not mLs, they’re the same

And just in case you haven’t had a chance to buy any yet, 5mL is one teaspoon.

I ended up re-using a old bottle of Nano-E and its pump with the Emcelle, which dispenses 2 mL each pump. I top dress his feed with before giving it to him. Easier than having the night feeder force it via syringe!

@FrittSkritt You gave he an idea! I had some shampoo pumps from ulta I wasn’t using. I took my 12 ml syringe and my pump and measured! A plain ol shamppoo pump dispenses 3ml per pump! This will be so much easier than trying to measure out sticky liquid out of a giant bottle all the time

Thanks for everyone’s help!
