Justify draws #1, the rail

Interesting. Ten starters is enough to create a little traffic and inspire some strategy. BB has another in the race, the 10, So bookending the field, will definitly be watching. Rabbit or at least try to control the pace? Or let everybody think that’s what he’s trying to do then not play it?

Justify looked really good arriving at Belmont. IMHO. He’s tightened up, looks leaner (in a good way)and very fit. Still had the professional demeanor, yawn, another day at the office, even calmly stepping off the van taking an interested first look around. Personally like to see that in a race horse. Heck, any horse.

Would go with Hofburg and Bravazo if betting maybe add a boxed exacta with Justify as even if he does not win, expect a very good effort out of him. But, you know, horses are good at making liars out of all of us.

I’m thinking he flys out into the lead to get a good spot and holds steady…crossing fingers for Justify!!

I really hope he does it, but watch out for TENFOLD!. Unfortunately I have a family event this year and sadly cannot make the Belmont. Seems the other trainers are just as awe inspired by Justify .

It was discussed during American Pharoah’s races that the size of the field matters in a triple crown attempt. I believe that a field of more than 7or 8 significantly affected a horse’s chances. Didn’t AP’s field fall into that category? The rail and a field of 10 would make it all that much harder. It would be exciting if he does it, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

What the heck are people thinking scheduling events on big race days!

I’ll probably have some money on Tenfold too.

I have to travel forwork…Should be in hotel by posttime. Tenfold is intriguing. Certainly getting talked up by his connections…maybe a little too much bluster there and personally don’t care for his connections too much.

Hofburg and Bravazo have very solid close up distance pedigrees too. Tenfold is fresh, which is an advantage. But so is Hofburg.

Think I’ll stick with what Ifigureed out yesterday. Since I am not actually putting money on any of them, my choices might have a better chance:D.

I looked around online for starters in APs Belmont. Couldn’t’ find that but 8 drew for post positions so if nobody scratched, there were 8 starters in the 2015 Belmont won handily by AP.

Seriously!

Post post position in a 12 furlong race makes little to no difference. Esp at a track the size and scope of Belmont. A 10 horse field is also meaningless. In Europe where 10-12++ furlong races are by far the norm than the exception. There are 20++ horses in most races also.

Came back over here to COTH to see what you all thought. Been working like crazy so no time to do much reviewing of PP’s, papers, websites. lol

I am a devoted Bill Mott fan, and hoping Hofburg does well. Have not been as impressed by Justify as I was by AP and California Chrome. But today (working in the city - hi-speed internet! Hulu! yay!) I got to watch NBC Sports Network’s replay of the KD and Preakness. Then also saw a picture of him getting off the van at Belmont. Have to say, he really did have presence just ahead of the first 2 races, rain and all, whereas he was more like a big kid in California. So, OK I’ll buckle and cheer for him. Bet against him. But hope he does fine.

I love The Belmont. Gumtree is right. It’s a very long race, and an enormous track. Anything can happen. What I found odd, was that they say more often than not, a horse carrying speed in front most likely to win.

Since there’s some conversation going on about him, must check out Tenfold stories.

Agree with Findeight - if one doesn’t put any money down, you’ll pick the winner for sure.

No fun when the bathrooms don’t work, but at least it looks like a nice day tomorrow.

Here’s to everyone coming home in fine shape.

I just checked, and Justify has never started in the 1 position in any of his five races. Is that going to make any difference?

For those who can’t find a place to watch online: Dubai racing showed the Acorn! Monomoy Girl won.http://www.dmi.ae/dubairacing/live.asp
I’m guessing they’ll show all the under card.

And #1 under the wire!

Wonderful!
